Feedback from first use

Hey, so, as promised in a previous issue, here is a quick feedback i had about using IhateMoney in combination of moneybuster for a group of non techies sharing a house in vacation. First of all Thanks for your work! Your app made this possible to use free software instead of other alternative!

So, as i a explained in the previous issue, the biggest issue of all was the install, i looked for the apk link, it was a bit hard to find, then find the security setting in every brand of android phone was a mess etc etc... but now it's fixed! again, thanks! much easier now!

so after that, we had to configure the money buster to sync with IHM:

The first page (Add a project in...) (+) was a bit confusing... half of the users clicked on the + using default values because they didn't really understood what was asked or even that they had to make a real choice.

maybe having like multiple choice shown instead of a dropdown. or even a "wizard" like

  • I want to : create / join
  • where : local / cospend / ihm ... (notice that you choose first if you want to create or join... this option was not clear to them as i was describing what they need to enter)

having the app catch ihatemoney.org links would be really nice :) the qr code in might have help here but i didn't knew it existed at the time.

after that the setup went smoothly but i had to dictate everyone the settings they need to set... also it's not really clear when the settings "form" is valid or not... you have the message once you try to click (+) but it's bit harder to read what you reaaally need to do/change.

once you "join" a project, it's not really clear that it's syncing ...

nobody found the way to display the setteling info (statistics and remboursements) i had to tell them where to find them (took me a few instant to realise there was smth there...). So a solution might be to extract the most usefull menu items (and maybe hide a tiny bit more the "about" ?)

after that the rest is really smooth 👍 it might probably help to say "who you are" in the participant to default to this participant... but aside from that i don't have much to say... it works! if i could end up with a last feedback, is that the sync might be a little bit too often... an "offline" version might be a good idea, or to make the syncing less visible or i don't know, but here you feel that whatever you click it will sync which is probably not THAT necessary...

anyway, thanks again for your work and good luck with the project :)

ps: sorry for this long messy issue :)
