Mrs. Anti, we had tree frogs all over every spring up in PA, never really bothered me - I always thought it was neat to see them (they liked to call from the side of my house ?)

We had a tree frog when we lived in Arlington and that thing gave me such a headache! Kept us both up all night! My husband found it and did something with it the next morning. We had another one in Frisco. We both hopped up and chased it down within minutes. We scared it off and THANK GOODNESS it didn’t come back. I hate those things! I’m anxious to see what kind of birds and critters we’re going to have in the spring at our new mountain house in Utah. We have deer constantly and had a fox one night. I’m happy to have some distance from those notorious Frisco rats.

Maybe the Cowboys will pick up Aaron Rodgers next year - ;o)~

A couple years ago I started seeing a few Caracals (falcon family) in my neck of the woods. Black with white head and a red crest on top. They travel in pairs.

Spyktr, I’m sorry about your cat. 15 yrs is a lifetime. I’m not a cat person, but I did have 2 cats when I was in high school. One was a calico stray and she had a solid black kitten. Those were the sweetest cats I’ve ever been around. They were both so playful and affectionate. I read some where that calicos are known for being sweet. They were both beautiful cats.

Fair enough - and thank you, she has beengone quite some time (I never offered you condolences (:-/ sorry. I am terrible at dealing with death. Our tortoise shell left us with my girl, Nala - purest calico I have ever seen ... I mean that in the coat sense, very distinct orange, brown and black patches with a very egg-shell white. Wish I had her pics online, id love to post them here.

She’s technically a calico - the difference between a calico and a tortoiseshell is that a calico has ‘significant’ patches of white fur. In addition to her unusual big solid splotches of orange tabby, Callie actually has a white ruff or ‘bib’, white ‘socks’ or ‘mittens’ and big white splotches on her belly.

Callie Cat’s appearance was probably no accident. Halo didn’t want you to be without a companion.

Halo is greatly missed, and not just by me.

A few months before his final decline, a little female stray literally invaded my house and Halo seemed to welcome her in, which was very unusual for him. He actually got along with her and started sharing his life with her. I didn’t post about her at the time because things got crazy...

So, meet Callie Cat. The vet says she’s now about 18 months old.

Aw, Spktyr, I’m sorry. I know it’s not easy to say goodbye to a four-legged friend. You gave Halo a good kitty-life.

I am sad to announce that Halo, my cat of nearly 13 years is no longer with us - he had to be put to sleep at age 15 after he stopped eating and a huge tumor was found in his lower abdomen. Treatment was ineffective and there was only one humane option. :( Some of you were familiar with him from photos, videos and stories, so I thought I’d post the announcement here.

bgill: There are alternate brand remotes that work with it. There is NO fee for basic services and use on a Vizio. There are scams out there that get you for that, though. Out of the ten I just picked up and installed for a client two weeks ago, none of them had any problems.

I just bought a Vizio and had no setup fee. bgill, I’m so sorry for your IBS, especially during Thankgiving. Don’t worry about a clean house and buy paper plates etc next time you’re out so you don’t have to worry about dishes. Most of all - don’t do gluten! It’s never worth it.

Hope you all had a great T-day. I have been hit HARD with fatigue for a month from IBS and can’t find anyone in financial stress to come vaccuum and wash the dishes. Did manage to make gluten free and fodmap confusing ingredients, no onions, no celery, no garlic, no wheat but hey, can have two whole grapes a day! And 1/10th an apple or 1/8th an avocado, no dried cranberries but didn’t have the energy to make fresh cranberry sauce to it was canned which was ok. Dinner was really good though! Woke parents behaved themselves!! Need to get some chicken on to boil for supper.

Spktyr - found out the activation fee when tying to set up the new tv after the old one quit working. BTW, you can’t use a different brand remote anymore. They said the fee started in Oct. It also came with screwed up sound so had to search how to fix it so the commercials and background sound wouldn’t blast us out of the neighborhood. Why companies can’t just make a good product and leave it alone.

This may be because Vizio TVs don’t actually have recording systems in them... most TVs don’t.

Also, Vizio was recently bought by Walmart. Shame, because they’ve been a solid if not amazing budget to midrange brand over last couple decades.

Bgill, everyone- don’t waste your money on a Vizio, especially one from Wallyworld if you ever have any desire to record anything, they don’t record.

bgill: I just set up several of those. They usually work right out of the box and don’t require any activation for base features. What were you being told the fee was for?

Don’t buy a Vizio smart tv. They are now charging $100-$200 to activate it. Ridiculous! Or maybe they all do that now?
