Music was the focus of the issue which became a canvas for graphic exploration of how, like music, graphics can animate spaces, performing either as background or mood setting, or coming to the fore, creating the rhythm.<br /> <br /> Using the white spaces of the pages between text blocks and images and playing off these elements, a magnetised graphic field was created across each spread. On the cover, flow lines stream around the grafik masthead creating their own pathway across the cover. In the photography, projections leave their own graphic trace on the scene. The structure of the catalogue which opens out in 'L' shape is mirrored by the layout of the ROSL logotype which forms the poster and the environmental graphics. The exhibition focused on the pivotal role that the Korean writing system, Hangul, has played in Korean culture, in particular, the artistic adaptation of Hangul by these four artists, in terms of their experimentation and re-contextualisation in art and design.<br /> <br /> The catalogue plays with the fundamental elements that constitute the hangul system: a dot ‘•’ (Sun in the heavens), vertical line ‘|’ (upright Human), and horizontal line ‘—’ (flat earth). Members of the public contributed to remake the alphabet at Speakers' Corner itself. The photographs, composed in poster form, capture both the ambiance and many of the characters found at Speakers corner. Something with zest and verve that could serve as a kite mark for journeys by audiences into the unknown. The logo adapted the typeface, Baskerville, designed by John Baskerville in Birmingham in 1757, giving it a much bolder punchy feel.
