ENI Second Edition
A downloadable framework
Hi. I'm Charlie, and this is...
...finally taking shape.
ENI Second Edition is released as a Forever Free Print and Play Game under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license and is totally hackable. You and every designer, player, GM, YouTuber, worldbuilder, and fan are invited to help improve the rules, translate the text, and create games for ENI. Thank you for all the help so far.
What is ENI?
ENI (pronounced "any") is a rules-light, universal tabletop roleplaying framework for cooperative storytelling. It's designed to be easy to learn, highly hackable, and adaptable to almost any setting or genre.
If Breathless by Fari RPG had a bigger sibling built for a wider range of games and longer campaigns, it would be ENI Second Edition.
At its core are Life Dice, which represent a character's health, stamina, capability, and more. You get to choose which die to roll, and how many of them! On a 4+ your challenge succeeds.
The other main driver for success is Sparks, which you get for contributing to the story. Spend these to either increase a die roll or advance your character, endeavor, etc.
This download is the compact edition of ENI: a tri-fold rules reference with a character sheet on the reverse. It contains everything you need to learn and play.
What's new?
The main change from ENI First Edition is that Life Dice now have multiple uses before they become exhausted. The Second Edition also introduces Track Dice to handle progress, countdowns, resources, reputation, and other evolving parts of the story. There are new rules for encumbrance, Sparks limits, and traits. While much has been added, ENI remains true to its original story-first philosophy.
