"Thank you for your service."

After years on the battlefield, Darius Creed wants nothing more than silence — a nice, quiet life. But peace is a different kind of war, and there's no place for a soldier who only knows how to execute commands. Just when the world feels most distant, he finds a reason to stay. Someone who fought without guns. Someone who made the silence feel like home. Someone more of a hero than himself.

But peace doesn’t last. War always takes away from the undeserving. When everything Darius believes and has is taken away, he must prove he deserves the title of a hero.

Meet different characters and navigate through the conflicts. The past is already set in stone, but your actions determine how the story unfolds. Stay virtuous or embrace your justified fury.

I cannot recover from this. (I read it by accident, and by writing this reply I have already decended into the depths)

i think i got stuck going into the radiation place i couldn't shoot. is the game ending there or did i miss something?

While the story is absolutely amazing and I really enjoyed it, I must agree with Shagai174e that: either MC is too apathetic towards Luc's death (considering he still has some emotions in him even though he lived through some war shit) OR Luc shouldn't die at all and MC should have inner goal and motivation to work to see Luc again.

Still I'll respect author's choice either way but please consider Shagai174e points!

I can't wait for future updates, I love games that take place in Chernobyl-esque settings like Chernobylite, though these are very different games. I love the flashlight mechanic, its really cool.

Spoilers:

I really like Shagi174e's suggestion to have Luc not die, but be used as some sort of leverage, like in the meeting with the director they reveal that Luc is alive, but in the custody of the dust place (I forgot what it was called), and if we do enough stuff for them we can get Luc back and get to be with him again though we have to stay and work for them forever, or because we poke around too much at the Chernobyl place Luc is killed or something and we don't get to be with him (sad ending).

Radiation monsters are scary.

  !!! Spoiler warning !!!

SPOILER WARNING

READ THE NOVEL BEFORE READING THIS, THIS IS A MAJOR SPOILER

The flashbacks promised a lovey dovey 2 party romance 😭 and yet real time is such a tonal whiplash

Luc was absolutely fridged.... Ash shouldve used Luc to coerce the MC to start off the main plot... Luc's death felt... meaningless. Luc's death was incredibly predictable... 😭 No good boys see a tommorow.

Jumping between flashbacks and Real time makes the genre and overall tone a bit incoherent with how the flashbacks are warm and welcoming and the real time is just so miserable muted and harsh, idk if the jarring transition between moods was intentional but its giving incohesive mood

The dialogue is super well done, the characters feel real and consistent. Though the lack of grief outside the flashbacks leaves the mental load unto the players and not on the MC, which is a small inaccuracy since the MC is the player's insert, though the MC does comment on the "trajedy", it feels...  a tad bit underwhelming when you think of the severity of the "tragedy".

The "Noise" at the end was very very effective in driving home the mood and tension. Well done, and the vision gimmick was brilliant. Solid 9.7/10 in gameplay, I love that homophobic brown dog.

I feel as if Luc's *cough cough* "Tired legs" flashback was a tad bit longer than it shouldve been, that's subjective but I suggest you trim 1 or 2 lines form the end so it lines with emotional peaks.

Every scene was beautifully crafted with intent and love, which is very very impressive, there was no irrelevant filler, all scenes delivered a point, the pacing is incredibly done and it's a pleasant read.

Just keep track of emotional peaks in dialogue and scene and that's all the advise I could muster up.

Bravo. 9.8/10 in storytelling. Better than 99% of Netflix Remakes, the -0.2 was because

Luc needed a better send off or he shouldntve died whatsoever, I get that it helps add stakes but the MC seemed to far too apathetic. it feels like Luc went from a Love intrest to a Fridge character which is a bit disappointing. Just dont kill Luc, hospitalize him, Give the MC some hope to explain why he hasn't offed himself allready. Luc is his lighthouse afterall, revenge is far fetched and unrealistic in the setting because revenge is a good incentive is good in theory but it's not feasible in the setting. Especially with how Ash described the place.

Hot take : Make saving Luc the goal, and I think it would be a better story imho and that goal would recontextualize the flashbacks greatly imho. Coercion fits Ash quite well. And an overcharging goal keeps players hooked and excited for new updates.

#BringBackLuc

I really enjoy this vn.It got so much potential.

Looking forward to see what's next.

That was far more indepth than I expected, even if short.

Eager to see where it goes. (Do wonder who is the supposed love interest. Volkov, or Theo? Theo had no sprite, but gave me 'cute innocent twink' vibes, so could appeal to Darius as Luc apparently was like that too, twinkish)

I really love how you write the interaction between Darius and Luc. It's phenomenal. Beautiful. I'm hooked with the story now.

I liked it, no clue where it's going. Initially slice of life, then jail break then mutant zombie shooter? Scratch that, after reading the dev blog, i think i know where it's going

This visual novel is really great! I am thoroughly impressed by what you have been able to do in ren'py. I love the unique mechanics and I am hooked on the game, I'm also very excited to see where the story goes, and the story between Luc and Darius.

It's been a long time since I enjoyed a vn so much. I loved the characters, the interactive nature of the game, and it left me wanting more. I hope it gets more recognition; it's well worth it.

Did not expect to get hooked up this quick to the story. The flow is quite pleasing to read. Love the interactions the game provides, keeps the reader focused. Characters are also all interesting so far. Excited for what's more in store!

I  really enjoyed reading this. The visuals are amazing and the overall story is very intriguing. I need me some more Darius x Luc stories. They compliment each other so well and I love their interactions. Amazing job!

1. I guess I'm glad you decided to rip the bandaid off with regards to Luc right away, not sure if I could handle having to guess which section was the flashback lol

2. I love how you decided to name the red choice "Fury" instead of just making it a generic good/bad choice. I'm actually more inclined to pick it over Virtue after reading the flashbacks

"not sure if I could handle having to guess which section was the flashback lol"

I hate when vns add a bunch of unexplained dreams etc and it takes forever to learn if it was true or not and by that time my memory is a hazy clusterfuck.

Was that dream about the mc nearly dying in a cave by a demon: 1) pstd enhanced memory 2) a nightmare 3) true 4) relevation from god etc
Welp, find out in 2 years worth of updates! Hope you remember the details by then lol
