An American actor, born in Jersey City, New Jersey, USA. He married Daisy Johnson (1915–1961) and had a child with her. She remained with him until her death. Victor was a prolific American film, television, and stage actor who was blacklisted by Hollywood studio heads for his communist activities. An American actor with a strong personality and a brusque demeanor, he was a wagon driver for his father's laundry company before joining a vaudeville company and playing in stock theaters. He also appeared on Broadway before making his film debut in supporting roles, often as a villain. After being banned from the cinema in the 1950s, he turned to theater and television work, until he was beaten to death by thieves who broke into his apartment. He died in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on March 11, 1979, following a fatal physical assault, at the age of 88.
