A Chinese screenwriter, film producer, director, and actress, born in Anshan, China, to a Chinese father and a Japanese mother. She moved at the age of five to Macau and then Hong Kong. She obtained a master’s degree in English and Comparative Literature from Hong Kong University and studied at the London Film School. She worked as an assistant to director King Hu, and worked in a number of drama series and short documentaries. Some of her credits include Si ji san ha (1972) and Fung gip (1979).
