He gained the attention of the theatrical audience and his fame increased after writing more than twenty full-length plays (1920-1943). He received the Nobel Prize in Literature, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the Tony Award for Best Play. Among his credits are Sleepless Eyes, Whale Oil, and The Bloody Destiny. He died on November 27, 1953, at age 65.
