IMDPersistenceAgent process uses near 100% CPU continuously. Why?

My M1 Mac Mini with MacOS 26.0.1, Activity Monitor app shows unfamiliar process IMDPersistenceAgent using near 100% CPU continuously, for User me. This is a recent oddity that I never saw before. Is this acceptable behaviour now? My similar M1 iMac does not show it.

Both Macs are idling not doing any work for me. This M1 Mini is running Safari for this query, and the iMac is idle with a Preview window viewing a document.
