To me it is a rather convenient entry point for beginners. It worked pretty solid throughout the whole period and it might might have been the longest duration I went with an OS without having any major issues. I still cannot give full 10 points as over the time there have been some minor issues that I was not able to resolve and became rather annoying and ultimately led me to try out other distributions. One was the updater which struggled to acknowledge that some applications moved to snaps and would still try to update those, leading to error messages and disruption in the updating process. Another issue was with connecting multiple screens through display link. While it seemingly worked fine when I originally set it up. The display configuration became buggy over time and sometimes did not allow rearranging displays and would not show any cursor on the secondary screen. As mentioned, this only occurred after continuously running the same installation over several years, with multiple version upgrades, so I guess it does not represent the actual situation with a fresh installation. overall, I consider it a rather solid distro and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't really know with which distribution to start. I don't have time to screw around hardcore and dig really deep into hardware, or compile binaries anymore. Yeah, some other distro might boot faster. Some other distro might have some features for specialized tasks. Some other one might be 50mb for a full install. Another might have a different init system, etc. You get the point. Kubuntu is a really polished, beautiful, stable, and easy OS that gives you a very simple base with everything you need and nothing you don't It just doesn't get in the way. It even installs printers for you when you hook them up. The LTS versions are supported for a really long time. I jumped between all the major distros for many years, and this is the one I trust. People should support more this community project as the LTS is very good and stable. Likewise I think canonical must have this as flagship DE along with Gnome; as Fedora and other distros does with both DEs. I cannot say nothing about non-LTS versions, but I can speak for the LTS. It's pretty good and solid. Feels slighty oldish due to be a a not-so old version of KDE, but it's pretty solid. Wanna leave Windows? This is the option. Was this review helpful?
