App icon not showing in TestFlight and App Store Connect, but visible on device

Hi everyone,

we are currently facing an issue with one of our apps regarding the new icon requirements in iOS 26. • We created the app icon using Apple’s Icon Composer. • On the device, everything works perfectly: the app icon is shown on the home screen, and it can also be customized with the new iOS 26 features (colors, transparency, etc.). • However, in TestFlight the app icon is not displayed at all (in the TestFlight app on the device). • In App Store Connect, the icon is also not shown in the overview for the app. Interestingly, within the list of TestFlight builds in App Store Connect the icon is visible.

What we have tried so far: • Created an archive and manually uploaded it to App Store Connect → no icon in TestFlight. • Took the working Icon Composer asset from another app target where everything works correctly, deleted the old one in this project, and copied the working asset into the problematic target. → Same behavior: visible on the device, but still missing in TestFlight and App Store Connect overview.

In contrast, in another app (using the same workflow and also Icon Composer), everything works perfectly: the icon shows up on the device, in TestFlight, and in App Store Connect.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Is there something specific that needs to be set in App Store Connect (e.g. Marketing Icon / Branding section), or could this be related to the new iOS 26 icon handling?

Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I’m experiencing the same issue. Additionally, in this case, the new iOS 26 Icon Composer icons are not showing up in the App Store on older iOS versions.

Having same issues. App Icon show up on device and under builds (Included Assets), but not visible in the App Store app on device or App Store Connect. Feedback: FB20338606

Have you been able to find out something about this? My app actually got approved and went to the App Store, but in the App Store, it's showing without an icon, which is pretty terrible. Hopefully someone has found a solution about this. Thanks!

That could be the problem. Two out of three apps work. Both are universal apps (iPhone + iPad). The third one, where the image is missing, is a standalone iPad app.

I can also confirm it's probably related to iPad only apps. My app uses iPadOS only APIs so I cannot enable iPhone target. The major concerns is App Icon missing in App Store app affecting people discovering the app. My feedback is still open. Hope this bug can be resolved or there is another solution.

Thank you all for filing a Feedback report. We are still looking into the issue.

I can also confirm the same behavior on my iPad-only app. I have 2 other universal apps where the problem does not occur.

I did not use the Icon Composer or change anything related to my icon, I simply created and uploaded a new build from Xcode 26.0.1 to support iPadOS 26.

My feedback ticket got an response, it seems to be a common issue, which the App Store team is taking care of.

However, I found a quick fix: Remove Icon Composer icons and use traditional Asset Folder icons. Took some days to update in the App Store, but now my App Icon is back.
