In a written letter from 1910 to the Texas cattle rancher Charlie Goodnight, the noted Comanche Chief Quanah Parker shared the story of his father Peta Nocona and the fight at the Pease River. In his words, Quanah shared the following: "When the Pease River fight took place my father with the main body of Indians was about seventy or eighty miles away with his Indian wife my brother and myself. He knew nothing of the fight until the two survivors, of the last named fight returned to the camp

Comanche Chief Quanah Parker and his friend Burk Burnett on Burnett's famed Four Sixes Ranch near Guthrie, Texas. Quanah was there for a wolf hunt that also included another of Burk Burnett's friends, President Theodore Roosevelt. Burnett was, of course, a rancher, banker, and oilman, and the Four Sixes covered more than 206,000 acres. This was taken in 1905.
