(awarded a Special Mention in Annecy).

A highly distinguished jury of filmmakers (entrusted with a prize worth 15,000 euros) has been assembled for this section, composed of Ukraine’s Sergei Loznitsa, Spain’s Albert Serra, Finland’s Juho Kuosmanen, French-German-Iranian talent Emily Atef and Japan’s Chie Hayakawa. Two other awards are set to be decided upon by the audience and the international press jury.

Films worth a mention screening out of competition include Caroline Monnet’s Canadian feature Bootlegger and Maurice Pialat’s To Our Loves on the heritage side of things, while 17 short films (including ten in competition) are also on the agenda.

These short films will be available for free all over the world, while feature films in the offing will be accessible for €1.99 each (or €7.99 for a package). The festival will be totally free in Africa, Latin America, South-East Asia, South Korea, Romania, Russia and Ukraine. All films will be subtitled for all countries in 12 languages: German, English, Korean, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Russian, as well as in Arabic, Mandarin and Ukrainian for the very first time. A sizeable chunk of these films will also be available in various other languages on certain partner platforms, namely Bahasa, Hungarian, Romanian, Turkish and Vietnamese.
