The filmmaker (whose last work was the Netflix film Love at First Kiss, starring Álvaro Cervantes and Silvia Alonso) together with Eduard Sola (María (and Everybody Else) [+lire aussi :

fiche film]), wrote the scripts for the four episodes. The series shows how, after 30 years of marriage and two children together, Miren leaves the marital home and reports her husband for continuous rape. This serious accusation forces the children to choose between believing their mother or supporting a father who defends his innocence. A family journey that runs alongside the judicial one with the same objective: to discover the truth.

Querer has Sergi Gallardo (Rosa's Wedding [+lire aussi :

fiche film]) as cinematographer, Zaloa Ziluaga as art director and Marta Murillo is in charge of wardrobe, while Itziar García Zubiri is the production director and Juan Moreno and Koldo Zuazua are the executive producers.

According to Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, "I feel that family is my natural universe. And the conflict of this series grows and gains depth by doing so in the intimacy of a family, that place where you cannot look the other way. The family embraces conflict mercilessly and this is no exception. It’s an emotional journey, full of tension and secrets, which I trust will raise uncomfortable questions. I feel good about it, among other reasons, because of the valuable work of researching, documenting and writing that I’ve done with fellow screenwriters Júlia de Paz and Eduard Sola".

Querer is a Movistar Plus+ original series in collaboration with Kowalski Films and Feelgood Media. It will be released on the platform in 2024 and will be distributed internationally by Movistar Plus+ International.
