SQUALI
synopsis
A modern Greek tragedy, a Venetian western, set in the far northeast of Italy. Due to a series of misfortunes, the three half-brothers and their half-sister, Camaso, find themselves returning as adults to their old father's home, Leone Camaso (played by Mirko Artuso), a small man, thief, and deceiver. The intertwining of passions, love affairs, and hatreds among the siblings constantly leads them to clash with each other, but they are united in their extreme hatred towards their father, to the point of committing parricide. Freely inspired by The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and set in the Lessini Mountains in the Italian Prealps in modern times.
