Goodbye 2025

This last week of the year has brought some beautiful blue skies. It is chilly but we don’t have snow (hooray) and I can wear all the wool to keep warm on my walks.

It has been a good year with lots of knitting and reading and sewing. I haven’t made too many plans for next year. I am going to step away from this space for a while. I put my Fitbit in the drawer and pulled out an old analog watch. I have deleted some apps and distractions from my phone. And I have a new planner that I am slowly beginning to use.

Here are a few things I am carrying into the new year.

I am closing comments to support my month of being offline more than I am online. I hope you have the best start possible to 2026.

Around here – the end of November

November was a good walking month. According to my FitBit, I have logged 142 miles. I am planning a long walk today so that number will rise. Not bad for a month when it rained almost every day and our hours of daylight have been greatly diminished. I am grateful for a good rain jacket and wooly socks inside my walking shoes. I am also grateful for some new trails that are away from traffic and for those occasional blue skies.

It was a good knitting month. I finished two hats. One was a basic beanie but the other was Sarah’s lovely Emblematic hat. I finished those rainbow sweaters and added some sweet labels before I handed them off. The test knit cardigan has been my main focus. I finished the body and one sleeve. Sleeve number two, steeking, and the button band should keep me busy next month.

I have also been thinking about scraps and leftovers in the fabric room. I have begun to cut up the smaller pieces as I consider some scrap quilt making in January. I would love to make some donation quilts in 2026.

My 2026 calendar notebook has a December page so I have begun to fill in some dates. Advent begins on December 1 and I have a new book that will take me through the liturgical year on my shelf. I am also looking forward to an Advent Yoga practice and daily poetry from Anam Cara.

I hope November brought good things and bits of joy into your corner of the world.
