The Celo Foundation Promotes Elizabeth Peng to Chief Operating Officer
Today, the Celo Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Peng to Chief Operating Officer (COO), where she will lead and operationalize Vision 2030, an ambitious agenda to usher in the next phase of critical adoption and growth across the Celo blockchain and ecosystem: bringing more people onchain, scaling positive impact use cases, and expanding the world’s onchain economy.
Elizabeth joined the Foundation in May 2022 as Head of Communications, bringing with her a global perspective shaped by a decades-long career spanning journalism, strategic consulting, and sustainability work for consumer and hospitality brands. From day one, she’s been instrumental in platforming Celo’s narrative on the world stage — amplifying the voices of builders, communities, and mission-aligned partners working to unlock prosperity around the globe.
In July 2023, Elizabeth stepped into the role of Head of Marketing and Communications, where she led Celo’s strategic positioning, ecosystem storytelling, global campaigns and events, and while during one of Celo’s milestone moments: the transition from a standalone EVM-compatible Layer 1 to an Ethereum Layer 2.
As the Foundation deepened its alignment with the Ethereum community, Elizabeth helped steward Celo’s public narrative with clarity and conviction — emphasizing Celo’s unique focus on real-world adoption and impact, stable assets, and core primitives. Under her leadership, Celo’s voice in the broader crypto ecosystem has grown significantly — bridging technical innovation with the Foundation’s values of unique purpose and connectedness.
Now as COO, Elizabeth will oversee the Foundation’s day-to-day operations and team, supporting execution across a growing network of builders, partners, and community members. “I’m excited for this next chapter for the Celo Foundation with Liz’s critical support and guidance,” said Rene Reinsberg, Celo Foundation President & Celo Co-Founder. “Her ability to combine strategic vision with operational discipline makes her the ideal leader to help guide the Foundation through this next phase of growth and impact.”
