The eggs deposited beneath her body were thus protected until the larvae were hatched and able to enter their own life cycle. As the mother died, the crimson fluid stained her body and the surrounding wood. From the dead bodies of such female scarlet worms, the commercial scarlet dyes of antiquity were extracted. What a picture this gives of Christ, dying on the tree, shedding His precious blood that He might 'bring many sons unto glory' (Heb 2:10)! He died for us, that we might live through him! Ps 22:6 describes such a worm and gives us this picture of Christ. (cf. Isa 1:18) (from page 73, 'Biblical Basis for Modern Science', 1985, Baker Book House, by Henry Morris)">8438 [e] | וְתוֹלַ֧עַת wə-ṯō-w-la-‘aṯ | and | Conj-w | N-fsc | | 1a) properly, the insect 'coccus ilicis', the dried body of the female yielding colouring matter from which is made the dye used for cloth to colour it scarlet or crimson">8144 [e] | שָׁנִ֛י šā-nî | scarlet [thread] | N-ms | | 2) alabaster, similar stone, marble">8336 [e] | וְשֵׁ֥שׁ wə-šêš | and linen | Conj-w | N-ms | 1a) (Hophal) 1a1) to be twisted 1a2) twisted (participle)">7806 [e] | מָשְׁזָ֖ר mā-šə-zār | fine woven | V-Hofal-Prtcpl-ms | 1a) deed, thing done, act 1b) work, labour 1c) business, pursuit 1d) undertaking, enterprise 1e) achievement 1f) deeds, works (of deliverance and judgment) 1g) work, thing made 1h) work (of God) 1i) product">4639 [e] | מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה ma-‘ă-śêh | work | N-msc | 1a) (Qal) variegator (worker in colours) (participle) 1b) (Pual) to be skilfully wrought or woven">7551 [e] | רֹקֵ֑ם rō-qêm; | made by a weaver | V-Qal-Prtcpl-ms | 1a) pillar 1b) column, upright 1c) column (of smoke)">5982 [e] | עַמֻּֽדֵיהֶם֙ ‘am-mu-ḏê-hem | it [shall have] pillars | N-mpc | 3mp | | 702 [e] | אַרְבָּעָ֔ה ’ar-bā-‘āh, | four | Number-ms | 1a) pedestals of gold on which marble pillars were set 1b) pedestals of the earth, foundation of the earth 1c) pedestals, bases, or sockets on which tabernacle stood">134 [e] | וְאַדְנֵיהֶ֖ם wə-’aḏ-nê-hem | and sockets | Conj-w | N-mpc | 3mp | | 702 [e] | אַרְבָּעָֽה׃ ’ar-bā-‘āh. | four | Number-ms |
