Hiberno-Norse. Sihtric III Olafsson. 995-1036. AR Penny (17.5mm, 1.20 g, 7h). Phase II coinage, Long Cross type. Difelin (Dublin) mint signature; 'Nirinn,' moneyer. Struck circa 1018-1035. + IИTRC RE+ IDIFHI, draped bust left; inverted croizer behind / + ИI RIИ N HO DFII, voided long cross, with triple crescent ends; pellet in each angle. O'S 12 (same rev. die as illustration); SCBI 22 (Copenhagen), 88 (same dies); D&F 23; SCBC 6125A. Good VF, toned.

Struck 1003-1009. + ÆÐELRED REX A(NG), helmeted bust left / + MΛ NNΛ MΩ · O ÐEO, voided long cross with triple-crescent ends and pellet at center; in each quarter, trefoil on pile. SCBI 7 (Copenhagen), 27-8 var. (obv. legend); Hild 3777-8 var. (same); BMC –; North 775; SCBC 1152. Good VF, toned, small peck mark on cheek.
