Something very unusual is happening in Clash Royale: the pigs have sprouted wings and are flying into battle! That’s right, the game’s Royal Hogs troop has a special new upgrade, and you can unlock it by collecting Evolution Shards or by purchasing the game’s Diamond Pass.

What we love: Once you’ve unlocked the evolution, you’ll need to play the Royal Hogs card twice in battle to be able to deploy it. Your reward will be a capable winged troop that no longer has to use the game’s bridges to cross the arena’s middle river – and won’t find itself being stamped underfoot by a Mega Knight.

Don’t miss: To celebrate the evolution, developer Supercell is giving one fan the chance to become the new spawn sound for the Royal Hogs card. To enter, record your own “hog call” – a sound traditionally used by farmers to attract pigs to the caller (for the uninitiated, hog calling is the basis of multiple competitions in the US). Recorded entries will be available for other players to listen to and vote on in-game before the winner gets immortalised as an official sound effect.
