Want to make your goals stick once and for all? ChatGPT, OpenAI’s revolutionary and hugely popular chatbot, is a great way to find new strategies. You can start with a general question or goal, but don’t be afraid to get really specific. That’s when the magic happens.

Here are five prompts we shared with the app to help us make an action plan.


Starter prompt: “Make me a weekly meal plan that prioritises healthy foods – budget-friendly, please!”

Get specific: Mention any allergies you may have, ask for protein-heavy suggestions or specify a need for recipes that will use all those chickpeas in your pantry. Then ask ChatGPT to transform the plan into a grocery list, organised by aisle.

Quick tip: Looking to incorporate foods from around the world? Try asking ChatGPT for beginner recipes for specific cuisines to spice up your meal rotation.


Starter prompt: “What’s the best way to save up for a big purchase?”

Get specific: If you feel comfortable, include your monthly expenses, income and outstanding debt. And make sure to share the indulgences you’re not willing to give up (such as sweet treats or your skincare budget).

Quick tip: Tackling your finances with a partner? Share a link to ChatGPT’s response and they’ll be able to see the recommendation.


Create an accountability plan for your daily habits

Starter prompt: “I really want to stay on top of my tasks. What’s a morning and nightly routine I can follow?”

Get specific: Ask ChatGPT to take into consideration your commute times, weekly football practice and any other scheduling issues that may make it harder to hit 10,000 steps or 10 minutes of meditation. The chatbot can put its suggestions in a tidy table to help you keep tabs on your progress.

Quick tip: Only want to do your morning stretching routine on Fridays? Let ChatGPT know and it will adjust your table accordingly.


Starter prompt: “I want to rekindle my love of art history. How do I stay focused so I don’t lose interest?”

Get specific: This works for any learning topic – from Japanese textiles to the Dada movement! Ask ChatGPT to make a weekly (or monthly) plan, drawing on articles, books and documentaries – and come up with thought-provoking study questions. Use the app’s voice feature to have a real-time Q&A conversation and deepen your knowledge. It’s like having a personal tutor!

Quick tip: If the suggested plan doesn’t feel right, touch and hold it, then select Regenerate to see a new one.


Discover productivity hacks

Starter prompt: “I’m drowning in emails and random screenshots. Do you have any advice on how to organise my digital life?”

Get specific: Hone your prompt to focus on file, photo or email management. The chatbot can help you think of naming conventions to separate your work files from personal files, or it can suggest the best ways to unsubscribe from mailing lists en masse.

Quick tip: Get proactive too! To consistently stay on top of things, ask for archiving strategies for all the folders on your desktop, or request tips for keeping an “inbox zero” mindset.
