AKHLYS was created by Naas Alcameth (NIGHTBRINGER, BESTIA ARCANA) in 2009 to serve as a voice for the muse that arises from
the dark lands between death and dreams through chilling ambient darkness.
Since that time AKHLYS has been slowly fleshed anew, arising again as a dark ambient and black metal unification, the reification of a dream sojourn through the chambers of Yesod.

Let's give it up for the star instrument of the album, the drums. Such technical percussion really helps land moments in the tech death dissonant apocalypse this album encases. I don't just want to choose the first track as my favorite just yet, but it is a really good track. The layering and the mixing of everything has a nice ambience that adds to the listening experience.

This album absolutely kills it. Top notch badassery all the way through. Some of the best metal I've heard, and a supremely impressive debut! I will absolutely be preordering Blackbraid II as soon as it's available.
