The program simulates simple harmonic motion using a spring-mass system. The mass of the block, the spring constant, and the position to which the spring is stretched can all be adjusted (decimal values can be used). When the simulation begins the block oscillates in accordance with these given values and with the given scale. The scale can be adjusted.
NOTE: For Windows 8 users, Windows SmartScreen may stop you from opening this program but I promise this is not a malicious file. When the message appears, click "More info" and then click "Run anyway".
Features
- 3 adjustable physical quantities: mass of the block, spring constant, and the initial stretch/compression position
- Adjustable scale
- Text box shows position of the block as it moves
- A separate window can be opened showing: period, amplitude, velocity, acceleration, mechanical energy, kinetic energy, potential energy, and force all in real time
- The simulation can be paused at any time
