Hello again,
I've been testing Orkaudio with libvoip.so on a custom made Asterisk server,
by capturing test conversations between 2 clients inside my LAN, and i got
successfully mfc files in /var/log/orkaudio folder, but my problem is that
for some reason orkaudio doesnt generate the gsm, alaw, ulaw or pcmwav file
in the folder, even if i set the captured audio format to those codecs. do
you know whats happening?
thanks in advance

Sergio,
The Generator plugin was not intended to allow end-to-end testing of the
system including orktrack/orkweb. It was rather meant to test the orkaudio
part only (in terms of scalability amongst others). Currently, recordings
get only reported to orktrack if they are transcoded. But if you use the
generator plugin, you cannot transcode files.
It would not be a lot of work to make this happen but most people are now
using the voip plugin to do stress testing (by replaying pcap traces) so it
is of limited interest.
Henri

Subject: Re: [Oreka-user] problems with Orkaudio
Hi there, Henri,
First of all, sorry for my ignorance in this subject and thanks for your
time :) although I'm a telecom engineer, im just starting with VoIP.
My situation is the following: If I set the capture format to native, i can
hear the wav files created in /var/log/orkaudio with audacity, mplayer,
xmms.. but, as you explained before, that makes impossible for orkweb to
issue the captures. If I set capture format to gsm, alaw, ulaw or pcmwav,
for some reason I cannot play the captured sounds in /var/log/orkaudio, but
orkweb starts to work fine, showing information about the files being
captured. only if I set delete native file to 'No', i can keep a copy in the
folder that i can hear, the original one. as for the coded one, i am never
able to listen to it. is it a problem of my audio? do i need some plugins
for alsa? or is this normal? its kind of weird since mplayer seems to
recognize the format and to find the correct coder/decoder.
This is what I get from mplayer when i select gsm as capture format. similar
results when trying alaw, ulaw or pcmwav or when trying other players, sound
editors..
Playing 20070103_224143_port0.wav.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
2007/1/3, Henri Herscher < he...@or...>:
Sergio,
That's normal, because in a VoIP environment, "native" means the recording
stays an mcf file which is a raw capture file that cannot be replayed by a
standard media player. You need to use gsm, ulaw, alaw or pcmwav for this to
work.

Fixed and working :)
Ortrack and Orkweb are also working good with Orkaudio. The following step
will be a test using libvoip.so on Asterisk communcations.
Thanks a lot Henri!

Sergio,
Could you try to set this in config.xml:
<StorageAudioFormat>native</StorageAudioFormat>
This should fix it.

mono).
Thanks a lot for your reply, Henri.

Hi Sergio,
Yes, the sound device plugin does not build yet on Linux target although it
should do without problems. It's just a matter of writing the right
Makefile.am and a bit of testing I would guess.
As for the generator plugin, you will need to use any pcm16 wav sound file,
rename it and it should be picked up by the plugin.
However, if you are interested in capturing asterisk audio, there's no need
to worry about either the generator or the sound device plugin, just use the
voip plugin.
Cheers
Henri

Subject: [Oreka-user] problems with Orkaudio
Hello mates,
I have recently installed Orkaudio over Ubuntu, my idea is studying the
security of communications based on an asterisk PBX. I got some problems.
First of all, I cant use the sound device plugin. In config.xml there are no
tags about it, there are only tags for generator plugin and VoIP. I have
noticed I dont have the library libsounddevice.so, but I think I installed
all the packages needed. Any clue?
Additionally, when using Generator plugin, although libgenerator.so is
correctly installed, it cant find the sin wav file, so it sends an empty
message instead.

And a third question, since Im just starting with asterisk, i still havent
implemented the PBX and clients. So I'd like to test the VoIP plugin on real
VoIP traffic. Do applications like skype send RTP traffic? cuz ethereal dont
see any RTP traffic when i start a conversation on Skype. Do you know any
application where I can generate real custom VoIP traffic so that i can test
orkaudio VoIP plugin?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello again, I've been testing Orkaudio with libvoip.so on a custom made Asterisk server, by capturing test conversations between 2 clients inside my LAN, and i got successfully mfc files in /var/log/orkaudio folder, but my problem is that for some reason orkaudio doesnt generate the gsm, alaw, ulaw or pcmwav file in the folder, even if i set the captured audio format to those codecs. do you know whats happening? thanks in advance Sergio. 2007/1/4, ore...@li... < ore...@li...>: > > Send Oreka-user mailing list submissions to > ore...@li... > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/oreka-user > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > ore...@li... > > You can reach the person managing the list at > ore...@li... > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Oreka-user digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Thank you mate. That replies all of my questions. I'm already working hard on Asterisk, and I will focus on the voip plugin in order to do some testing. Great job there. Congrats. Cheers. Sergio, The Generator plugin was not intended to allow end-to-end testing of the system including orktrack/orkweb. It was rather meant to test the orkaudio part only (in terms of scalability amongst others). Currently, recordings get only reported to orktrack if they are transcoded. But if you use the generator plugin, you cannot transcode files. It would not be a lot of work to make this happen but most people are now using the voip plugin to do stress testing (by replaying pcap traces) so it is of limited interest. Subject: Re: [Oreka-user] problems with Orkaudio Hi there, Henri, First of all, sorry for my ignorance in this subject and thanks for your time :) although I'm a telecom engineer, im just starting with VoIP. My situation is the following: If I set the capture format to native, i can hear the wav files created in /var/log/orkaudio with audacity, mplayer, xmms.. but, as you explained before, that makes impossible for orkweb to issue the captures. If I set capture format to gsm, alaw, ulaw or pcmwav, for some reason I cannot play the captured sounds in /var/log/orkaudio, but orkweb starts to work fine, showing information about the files being captured. only if I set delete native file to 'No', i can keep a copy in the folder that i can hear, the original one. as for the coded one, i am never able to listen to it. is it a problem of my audio? do i need some plugins for alsa? or is this normal? its kind of weird since mplayer seems to recognize the format and to find the correct coder/decoder. However, if you are interested in capturing asterisk audio, there's no need to worry about either the generator or the sound device plugin, just use the voip plugin. Sergio, That's normal, because in a VoIP environment, "native" means the recording stays an mcf file which is a raw capture file that cannot be replayed by a standard media player. You need to use gsm, ulaw, alaw or pcmwav for this to work. Henri _____ From: ore...@li... [mailto:ore...@li...] On Behalf Of Sergio Reyes Sent: 03 January 2007 16:24 To: ore...@li... Regards Sergio 2007/1/2, Henri Herscher <he...@or...>: Hi Sergio, Yes, the sound device plugin does not build yet on Linux target although it should do without problems. It's just a matter of writing the right Makefile.am and a bit of testing I would guess. As for the generator plugin, you will need to use any pcm16 wav sound file, rename it and it should be picked up by the plugin. However, if you are interested in capturing asterisk audio, there's no need to worry about either the generator or the sound device plugin, just use the voip plugin. Thanks a lot for your reply, Henri. I got some problems. First of all, I cant use the sound device plugin. In config.xml there are no tags about it, there are only tags for generator plugin and VoIP. I have noticed I dont have the library libsounddevice.so, but I think I installed all the packages needed. Any clue? Additionally, when using Generator plugin, although libgenerator.so is correctly installed, it cant find the sin wav file, so it sends an empty message instead. sergio@sergio-desktop:/$ sudo orkaudio debug Password: 2007-01-02 18:56:29,506 INFO root:117 - OrkAudio service starting 2007-01-02 18:56:29,515 INFO root:93 - Loaded plugin: /usr/lib/orkaudio/plugins/librtpmixer.so 2007-01-02 18:56:29,516 INFO root:87 - Loaded plugin: /usr/lib/libgenerator.so 2007-01-02 18:56:29,517 INFO immediateProcessing:53 - thread starting - queue size:10000 2007-01-02 18:56:29,517 INFO batchProcessing:129 - thread Th0 starting - queue size:20000 2007-01-02 18:56:29,518 WARN root:92 - Generator.dll: Could not load audio test file:sine.8KHz.pcm.wav using empty buffer instead 2007-01-02 18:56:29,519 WARN port:172 - #port0: received unexpected capture event:stop 2007-01-02 18:56:29,519 INFO port:166 - #port0: start 2007-01-02 18:56:34,538 INFO port:184 - #port0: stop 2007-01-02 18:56:34,539 INFO tapelist:210 - date=2007-01-02_19-56-29 duration=5 direction=unkn capturePort=port0 localParty= remoteParty= localEntryPoint= localIp= remoteIp= 2007-01-02 18:56:34,539 INFO port:166 - #port0: start 2007-01-02 18:56:34,540 INFO batchProcessing:165 - Th0 processing: 20070102_195629_port0 2007-01-02 18:56:34,541 INFO reporting:79 - hostname=sergio-desktop type=tape recid=20070102_195629_port0 stage=stop captureport=port0 timestamp=1167764189 filename=2007/01/02/19/20070102_195629_port0.wav localparty= localentrypoint= remoteparty= direction=unkn duration=5 service=orkaudio-sergio-desktop localip= remoteip= 2007-01-02 18:56:39,559 INFO port:184 - #port0: stop And a third question, since Im just starting with asterisk, i still havent implemented the PBX and clients. So I'd like to test the VoIP plugin on real VoIP traffic. Do applications like skype send RTP traffic? cuz ethereal dont see any RTP traffic when i start a conversation on Skype. Do you know any application where I can generate real custom VoIP traffic so that i can test orkaudio VoIP plugin? Thanks a lot in advance! |
