Checksum Checker 3.1.0
=========================
About
-----
Checksum Checker is a part of the Digital Preservation Software Platform (DPSP) from the National Archives of Australia.
It calculates checksums of stored objects and compares them with entries in a database created by the Digital Preservation Recorder (DPR).
License
-------
Checksum Checker is released under the General Public License version 3.
Requirements
------------
Checksum Checker requires Java 1.7 to run. This can be downloaded from http://java.com.
Note that Checksum Checker depends on a database to retrieve file paths and existing checksums to compare against. This is done through an SQL file which is pre configured for use with the database of the Digital Preservation Recorder (http://dpr.sourceforge.net) but can be changed to work with different database structures. Note that the there is currently no option to specify this information in any other form.
This will need to be downloaded, installed and set-up separately. Checksum Checker sends emails containing results and errors. To receive these an SMTP server
will need to be installed. A fake SMTP server that discards this content is included here.
Support
-------
Help with Checksum Checker is available online at our website (http://checksumchecker.sourceforge.net). Please also see the Checksum Checker User Manual.
Known Issues
------------
The Checksum Checker Graphical User Interface (client) is not functional in this version and may be removed altogether in future versions. The manual has not been updated to reflect this and may not be so useful in this regard.
This version of Checksum Checker is not the same version that is packaged in DPSP 3.0.0. It has not been tested with DPSP nor does DPSP currently support this
version (3.1.0).
