Hi all I built today the 1.3.1-test1 installer for Windows. When I am done with the Linux packages and some rudimentary testing I will release it, so expect the packages within the next two weeks. The 1.3.1-test1 package will not yet contain updated documentation, I will take care of this while the public is testing. test1 does not yet contain the updated dirt 1 track (I will most likely include it) and some great car textures (I have first to ask the creator for the release terms). Bye, Bernhard |

I have committed a fix for olethros in the main branch -- it seems to solve a big problem with learning. It has to do with how the 'effective road friction' is used when calculating the break distance. I have now fixed it. I will try and clean up some of the code bloat before merging this olethros with the release branch. |

Hi All Apart from the packaging, build system and one patch to review (and eventually apply) the state on r1-3-1 represents the 1.3.1-test1 release. So I guess I will start with the packaging and installers next week. Bye, Bernhard |

Hello Vincente, thanks for your great tutorial, it helps me a lot! Yes indeed stripe was missing. I compiled it and copied it to /usr/local/bin so accc could find it. Now everything works fine. Soon i will drop you a line with some hints about your tutorial that may help to improve it :) Thanks! ___/\_______________________________________________________________________ Ich darf beim Namensaufruf nicht dazwischenschreien: “Sie ist tot”. |\/\/\/| | | Bart. | (O)(O) ba...@ne... Hi Bart, first of all thanks to read my tutorial and congratulations for your work on tracks, the logo... good job!! (I will add this explanation in the tutorial) The message you whe you execute: accc -g test.acc -l0 test-bak.ac -l1 test-shade.ac -d3 1000 -d2 500 -d1 300 -S 300 -es But at this combine i get the error: sh: stripe: not found /usr/games/accc: line 31: 19173 Segmentation fault $LIBDIR/accc-bin $* Means that you need to install stripe because is needed by accc. http://www.cs.sunysb.edu/~stripe/ You need to download the stripe.tar.gz from http://www.cs.sunysb.edu/~stripe/stripe.tar.gz Then to install stripe in ubutnu or any linux distribution: tar -zxvf stripe.tar.gz cd Stripe make sudo cp stripe /usr/local/bin/ Now you have installed stripe in your ubuntu. If someone want stripe for windows, stripe.exe can be donwloaded from http://www.esnips.com/web/f1torcs (stripe.zip, unzip and copy stripe.exe into the same directory where is placed accc.exe (from your torcs installation directory) Now you can execute accc -g test.acc -l0 test-bak.ac -l1 test-shade.ac -d3 1000 -d2 500 -d1 300 -S 300 -es without any problem. Message-ID: <1218401364.12746.18.camel@ElBarto> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Hi, after i started last year to polish "Dirt-1" (http://my.opera.com/area42/blog/drive-on-torcs) and studied now the 20-Minutes-Track-Tutorial (thanks Vincente!), i tried to add a shadow map to Dirt-1 too. I'd like to get a real rock'in Dirt-1 for 1.3.1 finished. First i adjusted the colors and added other details using Blender, then i exported the track using the TORCS exporter for Blender. Like Vincente described (http://usuarios.lycos.es/f1torcs/tutorial) i added shading without any problem: accc +shad test-bak.ac test-shade.ac and try to combine shading and track: accc -g test.acc -l0 test-bak.ac -l1 test-shade.ac -d3 1000 -d2 500 -d1 300 -S 300 -es But at this combine i get the error: sh: stripe: not found /usr/games/accc: line 31: 19173 Segmentation fault $LIBDIR/accc-bin $* What does that mean? What do i wrong? Is there a problem using an original and tiled track? I'm using Ubuntu 8.04. Hello, last year i started to refresh the track Dirt-1 (http://my.opera.com/area42/blog/drive-on-torcs) now i studied the 20-Minutes-Track-Tutorial and adjusted the colors of the new Dirt-1 again. After compiling Stripe i get shadowmaps too and created a real lovely looking track Dirt-1 that can ship with TORCS 1.3.1. You can grab it here (8.1mb): http://files.myopera.com/area42/files/torcs-dirt-1-2008.zip Any feedback is welcomed. If i could get CVS access i would upload it (+ my texture and Alpine-1 improvements) into the current 1.3.1 branch. ___/\_______________________________________________________________________ Ich darf meine Hosen nicht mit anderen tauschen. |\/\/\/| | | Bart. | (O)(O) ba...@ne... Hi, after i started last year to polish "Dirt-1" (http://my.opera.com/area42/blog/drive-on-torcs) and studied now the 20-Minutes-Track-Tutorial (thanks Vincente!), i tried to add a shadow map to Dirt-1 too. Thanks! ___/\_______________________________________________________________________ Beim nächsten mal könnte ich das sein auf dem Baugerüst. |\/\/\/| | | Bart. | (O)(O) ba...@ne... Hello, i fixed some small bugs and adjusted the to yellow lightning: http://files.myopera.com/area42/files/torcs-splash-3d_final.png I tried to adjust the red too but this let the TORCS logo look like plastic and will distroy the athmosphere. Hi, what car you ever prefer and drive you will always see the backlights and the backfire. I studied various pictures of them and improved the textures of them for 1.3.1: data/textures/breaklight1.rgb data/textures/breaklight0.rgb data/textures/fire1.rgb data/textures/fire0.rgb They can be grabed here: http://files.myopera.com/area42/files/torcs-textures.zip ___/\_______________________________________________________________________ Ich darf das nicht mit meiner Zunge machen. |\/\/\/| | | Bart. | (O)(O) ba...@ne... Hi, in the fight against the texture uglies in TORCS i created a cool background for Alpine-1 road track. As required this is free art, so it can shipped with TORCS 1.3.1 . I modified the background colors und background type of the alpine-1.xml too. Both can be downloaded here: http://files.myopera.com/area42/files/torcs-alpine-1.zip Here is a preview of the new background: http://files.myopera.com/area42/files/torcs-alpine-1-background.png ___/\_______________________________________________________________________ Ich darf keine Schafe in die Klasse bringen. |\/\/\/| | | Bart. | (O)(O) ba...@ne... Mostly this. I want to get rid of all stuff which could cause legal trouble over time, but this will take some more releases. Beware, the trb cars are more or less replacements for the skipped cars. There is still some stuff I want to replace in a later releases: - F1 category/car will be renamed - The remaining original car names will disappear (does not apply for the rally and kc cars, because these are "external" contributions and are tagged as non free, important for distributors, e.g. Debian), here "change" list: 155-DTM, acura-nsx, cg-nascar-rwd, p406, sc-f1. The 155-DTM and acura-nsx will be adopted to the trb1 category (look and performance), the 155-DTM successor will still be 4wd. The mclaren-f1 will get a trb1 successor as well, but it will look significantly different. One big reason to do the change was as well to have a bunch of cars which are "balanced" opponents, to get really tough races, the removed cars performance was just to different, the same applies for the model quality. So in the "free" car collection I would like to have: - 10 trb1 cars. - some open wheel cars (similar to the sc-f1 or Andrews/Vincentes pieces) - Some american style touring cars (1-4 models, at least one replacement for the existing one) - Updates to the buggy and baja-bug - Update the p406 That's the direction, but the car set is fixed now for 1.3.1, the proposed changes will come later. Bye, Bernhard |

Currently downloading r1-3-1 branch from CVS, I realize that some great cars have disapeared since r1.3.0 (gt40, lotus-gt1, clkdtm, ...). Just to understand, and help if I can, what is the reason for that ? - too much work to tune them against SimuV2 and other related changes ? - more generaly, too much work to maintain them along Torcs evolutions ? - some copyright / brand protection issues ? - ... ? Thanks in advance. Jean-Philippe. |

Eckhard, > Is there a difinition of the TORCS-Red? Euh ... may be there is no "official" one, as far as Torcs's style is concerned, but I was just thinking about the red colour used into the 2 Torcs icon files : Ticon.png and Ticon-t.png. But this is just quibbling ... ;-) You made a very nice work. Jean-Philippe. |

Hi, Eckhard, and all. Great job ! The curved T seems good for me. And I also prefer the angle of view you used on your blog. 2 minor remarks : - the red you used is not exactly the Torcs's style one (too Ferarri, isn't it ? ;-) - the tires are not enough black. Cheers, Jean-Philippe. |

If some adds the infra structur for that on the webside, no problem to
create a CD or DVD
cover (justa question what's the content?).

Instead of reducing tracks and cars we must improve the existing cars
and tracks to make a
good gaming experience available.
Besides a much better look and feel i think we really need the network/
internet play feature.
In the time of internet communities and online games such a feature
would let the TORCS
community grow. A growing community would bring more power users/
artists and developers
and this would let TORCS getting better (GLSL-Shader) in shorter time.
