Have you had a chance to play with the proposed simuv2 patch yet? It should feel good :) I was curious about the human driver changes you propose in Andrew's cars page. I have already modified the human driver for personal use so that it smoothly goes from off to on no matter what you are using (but usually just as fas as you can move pedals) - but I was curious about what the steering patch. Currently I am using a bit of toe in my front wheels for all my human car setups to make steering a bit more stable (i.e. I set right wheel to -0.5 degrees and left to 0.5 degrees to and it seems to do the trick). I think that we should perhaps set up all cars so that they have such toe to begin with. What else would you think is warranted when using a mouse/keyboard/joystick? The problem with mouse is no way to 'return' to center very easily and with keyboard lack of precision.. but.. hm.. I also think it's time I added a handbrake button... I will implement it in the simuv3 code and report back... |

Ongoing process of reviewing simuv3. Finished with car.cpp today. NOTE, BUG, TO-DO in the code are used for points of interest. * car.cpp: Code cleanup. Added mass distribution dependence of rotational inertia to the other axes, since it was for some reason only added to the z axis. Cheers, christos |

You have to import the .ac files. The .acc files are modified .ac files and you can't open it in blender. Look at these pages to get some information how to create a car. http://speedy.chonchon.free.fr/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=37 http://www4.uji.es/~al063357/tutorials/torcs/index.html Regards Raul Fernandes rg...@ya... --- Luis Ambrosio <lg...@gm...> escreveu: > Hello, I'm Guillermo and i'm new at this mailing > list, i have just tried out > torcs and it's great... > > I would like to try to make some cars with blender > but there is no > documentation for that ... y tried to import a .acc > file of a already made > car but i got this error > > Trying to import AC3D model(s) from: > /home/guille/torcs/share/cars/cg-nascar-rwd/cg-nascar-rwd-lod1.acc > ... > Traceback (most recent call last): > File "<string>", line 762, in filesel_callback > File "<string>", line 240, in __init__ > File "<string>", line 633, in testAC3DImport > ValueError: expected sequence triplet of floats > Traceback (most recent call last): > File "<string>", line 1, in ? > File > "/usr/lib/blender/scripts/bpymodules/BPyRegistry.py", > line 254, in > SaveConfigData > f = file(filename, 'w') > IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: > '/home/guille/.blender/scripts/bpydata/config/ac3d_export.cfg' > > If i get to finish a car of my own, should i export > to a acc file or does > torcs support other formats ? ... also is there any > documentation for the > other files that sould be included with the car ? > ... y didn't find any > > thanks for all > Abra sua conta no Yahoo! Shouldn't matter in what format of source control they release their project. If you're an external developer like I am, all you should need is to checkout the codes. In that sense, even a tarball of a build is suffice, and you then integrate into your own development environment. I say this with the following points in mind: When/if you contribute to the project, you'll do so via a patch, and not actually comitting directly to their source control system. Your patch will first be reviewed before it gets integrated. And your later request is something you could possibly contribute ;). Now I'm not part of the development team, but nevertheless, as a developer, these requests are mostly administrative, and doesn't directly affect the quality of the project. -Alex. Hello , i was wondering if there any future plans to use SVN instead CVS. And how about CMake, why dont's use this to build TORCS?. I was seeing that TORCS has build files to Windows, *nix(bsd too)... but CMake has a great feature about this, because a only cmake Makefile can be used to build the source with out bat files and so off. Instead, CMake can generate build files to VS2005/3, Make standard files, kdevelop, and so on. Please this isn't a which list :P, it's only a few questions about this great project ;) Greetings. |

Hello, I'm Guillermo and i'm new at this mailing list, i have just tried out
torcs and it's great...
I would like to try to make some cars with blender but there is no
documentation for that ... y tried to import a .acc file of a already made
car but i got this error
Trying to import AC3D model(s) from:
/home/guille/torcs/share/cars/cg-nascar-rwd/cg-nascar-rwd-lod1.acc ...

SaveConfigData
f = file(filename, 'w')
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied:
'/home/guille/.blender/scripts/bpydata/config/ac3d_export.cfg'
If i get to finish a car of my own, should i export to a acc file or does
torcs support other formats ? ... also is there any documentation for the
other files that sould be included with the car ? ... y didn't find any
thanks for all

Thanks for this great game. I have played it a lot.
After read the "How-to import NFS cars" I have
difficulties to convert the cars because I only use
linux and NFSWizard only runs in windows. I have to
install the vmware and run windows inside it. Weird
solution.
Another problem is that NFSWizard only runs in win98.
Running in compatibility mode in winxp is buggy. I
have read that the author lost the sourcecode (?) and
cannot update the program.
As NFSWizard is only used to extract file from viv
file I have the idea to look into viv file to try to
understand the format. I have found that viv file
format is very simple.
So I have made a program that extract the files to
replace the NFSWizard. It compiles and runs in linux,
but should can compiles and runs in windows too as it
is very simple.
To compile:
gcc -o extractviv extractviv.c
I want to contribute the program to TORCS. The
sourcecode is under GPL too.
Please put it in official package and update the
howto. The other users will thanks for it.
Regards
Raul Fernandes
