I have triangulate the circuit (actually I think it wasn´t necesary since I have modified only one vertice of a-speedway) like is described in <A href="http://article.gmane.org/gmane.games.torcs.devel/189">http://article.gmane.org/gmane.games.torcs.devel/189</A>. Did I make something wrong?</P> <P>* The second way: with the object-mapX.png. I tried to find those files in TORCS 1.2.2 (object-map1.png and object-map2.png) to have a look at them, but I could´nt, and I tried in the binary version and in the other. Also, nothing happens if in the xml file I change the 'object-mapX.png' by another word (whatever) so I´m a little bit lost. </P> <P> What I want to do is to introduce some traffic light, so I need not only to introduce the object, but also to change the textures of it when it turns red or green or orange. Hi Manuel > ok, but is the following correct? In every game there are some threads. At No, in TORCS there is just one single thread (at least at the moment), the one of the main process. The drive functions of the robots are called sequentially of the TORCS race engine, all at the same simulation time with the same tSituation structure. > least one for the human and one (or more, I dont know) for the robots. From your writing I guess that you develop with Windows, do you? If yes, you have perhaps to list the variables you want to export in the whatever.def file of the dll and declare it as extern. IMHO it is quite nifty to work with static variables in dll's/so's, because on different systems the initialization works different... bye, Bernhard. -- visit my homepage http://www.berniw.org |

The attribute might be static within the class instance, but that does not mean anything. For example, in berniw, mycar.cpp defines a lot of static variables which are different still for each instance. What you should do is implement some kind of singleton, which basically means a single object, or a number of references to the same identical object. --=20 Christos Dimitrakakis IDIAP (http://www.idiap.ch/~dimitrak/main.html) |

Look for example into the file dirt-1.xml and objects-map1.png. Like you
can see in the objects.xml the objects are encoded as color dots. So you
have to:
1. Create an object map (png-image), look up the colors for the objects
in object.xml (you have just to place the dots with the right colors).
2. Define the <!ENTITY default-objects SYSTEM
"../../../data/tracks/objects.xml"> at the beginning of your file
3. Define your object map(s)
<section name="Object Maps">
<section name="map 1">
<attstr name="object map" val="objects-map1.png"/>
</section>
<section name="map 2">
<attstr name="object map" val="objects-map2.png"/>
</section>
</section>
Btw, alternatively you can edit and improve your scenery with a
3D-Modeler, e. g AC3D or Blender. Have also a look into Christos "track

Hi Christos > Hm.. it has been quite quiet lately.. anyway. For the car damages, I Yep, very quiet. At the moment I am working on a PHP Web Application to organize races according to the rule draft. That is not very exciting but it needs a lot of time anyway... Then I have still some experiments in the pipeline for TORCS itself like phong specular highlights, OpenGL feature test and configuration and some other minor stuff. > would like to add scratch marks to the car if possible. Do you think there is some other way to do it? Dynamic textures are quite expensive if you do not create them directly on the GPU (which is just possible with quite recent hardware), so you should add them like decals with multitexturing or multipass rendering. bye, Bernhard. -- visit my homepage http://www.berniw.org |

Have you tried to remove the "archive" flag recursively on the whole file tree and making all file executable? bye, Bernhard. -- visit my homepage http://www.berniw.org |

Hm.. it has been quite quiet lately.. anyway. For the car damages, I would like to add scratch marks to the car if possible. If I traverse the sg hierarchy, I guess I can find the surfaces and textures and write on them directly, but maybe it is easier to have yet another texture blended on top which has the scratchmarks and I can change its alpha channel. Do you think there is some other way to do it? -- Christos Dimitrakakis IDIAP (http://www.idiap.ch/~dimitrak/main.html) |
