I do not know the directory structure well, in fact, since I only worked on my own driver so far. It is just that moving directories around in a CVS repository is not that convenient, as far as I have understood (I am no CVS expert). So if anybody has changes in mind, they should be done before building the repository, I believe. In particular, if you split the source into torcs-core and torcs-extras, then it should be possible to retrieve each of them independently (CVS modules should be able to do that, I guess). There are at first two things I would like to do in the simulator: - Fix collision code so that cars do not cross each-other anymore. I have done this for RARS already. I guess the problem is similar here, though a little more complex. - Incorporate my engine sound generator. I have already plenty of ideas to improve it. I think this would be a good way for me to get familiar with the source. Then, I am sure I will have hundreds of ideas of things to do. Remi |

I was thinking of packaging the simulator with just a small number of tracks, and additional tracks/cars/drivers separately. Currently, I am trying to update the transmission simulation to handle correctly the 4WD and after that on my todo-list there are the damages and tire wear. The Pit-Stops are possible (you can refuel with the human driver) but for the robots there should be a set of API to help the pit-stops. For the CVS on sourceforge, I can do that so the team-work can be possible. If you want some changes in the directory structure, just tell me. I'm glad to see more interrest in TORCS those days, Eric. -- =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= TORCS The Open Racing Car Simulator http://torcs.org =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= |

One of the main reasons I stopped working with TORCS is that my old ATI Rage Pro with Utah-GLX drivers crashed my machine badly all the time. I can now have fun again with it and am motivated to participate in the development. I think it would be necessary to set-up a CVS repository at sourceforge. It would make cooperative work much easier. Especially since the TORCS source is growing really big and I have a 33.6 kbit/s modem at home. I think that if you give me developer rights for the project (my handle at sourceforge is rcoulom), then I would be able to do this myself. It might require a little bit of thinking before we settle on a directory structure. Just let me know what you think. Remi |
