Hi Anand This accel mean "accelerator pedal", so you can think of it as from "closed position of the carburetor or inlet/injection system" (0, which is of course nor fully closed, otherwise the engine would go off) up to fully open (1). As you can see this has no simple connection to the acceleration which will happen to the car, because this depends then on much more factors: - Where you are on the torque curve - Feedback from the wheels/drivetrain (differential, efficiency, momentum, this as well depends on - Grip level of wheels, Forces on the car (Drag, impact of wall/car, slope of track, ...), etc, so even downforce etc. is involved. Basically most of the physics model/current state has an impact on the acceleration which will effectively result. So there is no trivial way to get the precise acceleration from the pedal value (car->accel), it depends on a lot of car state. Hope this helps. I have another doubt regarding the acceleration in Torcs. the "accel" variable can take a value between 0 and 1, with 0.1 being 10% acceleration etc. But how does it translate into acceleration in normal units like meter/second^2. In other words, if i give the accel a value of 1, how much does the velocity change by? If i stop giving accel any value after the car reaches a particular speed, what is the rate of decrease of speed? > > Please do let me know. > > Thanks and Regards, > Anand. > > > On Nov 23, 2012, at 11:51 AM, Bernhard Wymann <be...@bl...> wrote: > >> Hi >> >> Do you mean something like a drag strip? >> >> If you just use trackgen to generate a basic 3D model, just define one straigt and you are done (trackgen can generate non closed tracks without terrain), but TORCS will not be able to handle it properly in the current and past versions, just closed "loops" are currently supported (circuits). >> >> Best regards >> >> Bernhard >> >> On 11/22/2012 08:48 PM, Anand Madhusoodanan wrote: >>> Hi, >>> I am trying to generate a straight track using the trackgen, but >>> am having making a proper xml file for it.
