fprobe and fprobe-ulog are NetFlow probes. fprobe - libpcap-based tool that collect network traffic data and emit it as NetFlow flows towards the specified collector. fprobe-ulog - libipulog-based fork of fprobe.

Those who have read past the "Malware" warning can be assured there is absolutely no malware in this OS or in the download. This warning comes from the "netcat" binary included in the download as a DOS time client. Unfortunately netcat has code that is flagged as malware. Daemonlogger is a packet logger and soft tap developed by Martin Roesch. The libpcap-based program has two runtime modes: 1. It sniffs packets and spools them straight to the disk and can daemonize itself for background packet logging. By default the file rolls over when 2 GB of data is logged. 2. It sniffs packets and rewrites them to a second interface, essentially acting as a soft tap. It can also do this in daemon mode. BWPing is a tool to measure bandwidth and response times between two hosts using Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo request/echo reply mechanism. It does not require any special software on the remote host. The only requirement is the ability to respond on ICMP echo request messages. BWPing supports both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

jpcap is a set of Java classes which provide an interface and system for network packet capture. A protocol library and tool for visualizing network traffic is included. jpcap utilizes libpcap, a widely deployed system library for packet capture.

bmon (Bandwidth Monitor) is a command-line network monitoring tool that provides detailed bandwidth statistics for network interfaces.

cdpr is used to decode a Cisco Disovery Protocol (CDP) packet, by default it will report the device ID, the IP Address (of the device), and the port number that the machine is connected to. Optionally it will decode the entire CDP packet.
