Worked on sound design ALL DAY for today's Nightmare Kart dev post!

The two main things I worked on was gross flesh noises sampled from a person destroying tomatoes slowed down by 50% (and processed further), and an 'evil aura' sound that plays when the aurora borealis fades in.

ok i think i figured out the last of the supply issues for the carabiner devil tail. once this last order gets shipped i'll be opening orders up again. and hopefully it wont sell out as fast either!!

Working on the bullet hell bullets some more for today's Nightmare Kart dev post!

I remade the VFX to include a 3d skull as that does a better job of implying the hitbox and made the trail a ribbon particle instead of spewing a bunch of cards out at a constant rate to keep the triangle count down.

Working on the bone bike boss fight some more for today's Nightmare Kart dev post!

Now that we established the slow moving bullet hell bullets, I made a very common "shoot a bunch of bullet hell bullets in every direction" move.

On top of this, I also added the bullets to the minimap.

Created bullet hell projectiles for the bone bike boss for today's Nightmare Kart dev post!

They are still unfinished and need a lot of tweaking, but I feel like this is the secret sauce the fight has been missing the whole time. Check it out!

For today's NMKart dev post I worked on a bunch of UI and VFX, all centered on helping the player track the bone bike boss!

I want this boss to be fast, compared to the beast gregory who mostly stood still and fired a minigun at you. Unfortunately, as there isn't a hard lock to keep force the boss on screen 100% of the time she can jump off screen and be lost by the player.

To help address this I implemented 3 different UI elements:

  1. Put the NMKart red enemy arrow over the boss
  2. Set up the minimap system
  3. Gave the boss a very bright headlight which diagetically justifies a new 'edge glow' system that brightens the side of the frame the off screen boss is nearest to

All these combined with some slightly toned down boss movement should help mitigate confusion with the fight!
