Teamsters Local 830 Ratifies New Contract With Beer Companies
Philadelphia, PA, June 17, 2026 — Teamsters Local 830 has just completed lengthy but successful negotiations with the three major Philadelphia area beer companies (Muller Inc., Origlio, Penn Beer) that resulted in a new four-year contract that expires June 14, 2030. The agreement means that area beer distributors will be well-stocked for the long, upcoming 4th of July weekend.
“We appreciate our beer partners’ commitment to hammering out an equitable new four-year contract that honors the loyalty and hard work of our members while allowing them to remain competitive in an increasingly challenging national market for beer sales,” said Teamsters Local 830 Secretary-Treasurer Daniel H. Grace.
Highlights of the new contract include:
* Wages - An increase in the hourly wage rate of $4.35 per hour over four years for all drivers, warehousemen, mechanics, sales persons and merchandisers currently earning $34.60 per hour. With the new increase, their hourly wage now goes to $38.95 per hour in the fourth year. Helpers and utility workers wages increased $3.10 over four years.
* All employees received an additional personal day and an additional emergency call-out day with no penalty.
* Employee shoe allowance increased from $125 to $150 .
* Shift differential increased from an additional $.50 cents per hour in addition to a wage rate per hour to $.60 cents per hour in addition to the wage rate.
* Mechanics received an additional $15 per month (currently at $85 per month). The increase takes that amount to $100 per month.
* Employees received the Day After Thanksgiving (a.k.a. Black Friday) as an additional holiday, in lieu of Super Bowl Monday, as the next Super Bowl falls on President’s Day Monday (already a paid holiday in the CBA). If an employee is on vacation when the Thanksgiving holiday falls, that employee will have two days off in the beginning of the next week, when that employee would return from vacation. (Example: The employee would be off Thanksgiving day and the day after thanksgiving , and Monday and Tuesday of the following week).
* Sales Persons car allowances increased from $190 per week to $205 per week.
* If an employee gives one week’s notice to separate from employment , and the employer rejects the notice served, then the employer shall pay the employee the 40 hours for the week that was denied the employee, as well as the benefit contributions owed to the funds to continue the medical benefit for that week. Also, the employer must pay any prorated vacation or PTO owed to the separated employee .
* Health and Welfare employee contribution requirements remain the same for the duration of the contract . ($35.00 weekly flat fee; weekly 10% of the employer contribution to the fund).
* A new Medical Plan OPT OUT will be in effect and those employees that choose to opt out of the plan shall receive $400 per month, but still receive disability and life insurance benefits through the fund.
* Employees in the Pension Plan shall receive the funding for a benefit multiplier increase, and additional employer contributions to maintain the plan in each year of the contract.
* Employees not in the pension plan received additional increases to their Retirement Savings Plan (defined contribution plan) on the employee’s behalf .
* A new classification was created called “relief sales clerk” to fill in for sales persons who are on vacation or absent from work.
