Find out how to configure your Access™ controller for PlayStation®5 consoles.

How to adjust your Access controller arm length

Adjust the arm length and distance between the analogue stick and buttons. 

  1. Press and release the extension arm lock button on the stick base. 
    The arm is unlocked when the lock button protrudes.
  2. Adjust the arm to the desired length. 
  3. Press the lock button back down.
    The arm is locked when the lock button is flush against the base.

How to change your Access controller button caps 

Swap the button caps with the different types included to find which best suits your playstyle. You may want to turn off your Access controller while swapping caps to avoid accidentally pressing the buttons during gameplay.

  1. Detach a cap.
    Press the release latch on the end of the cap, and then lift the cap straight up.

  1. Attach a cap.
    Align a cap on an empty button socket and press down until you hear a “click”.

  • Each button socket is assigned to a button number between 1 and 8. 
  • The button caps can’t be used on the centre button. 

How to change your Access controller stick caps 

Swap the stick cap with one of the different types included to find which best suits your playstyle. You may want to turn off your Access controller while switching caps to avoid accidentally moving the stick during gameplay. 

  1. Detach the cap. 
    Pull the cap up away from the stick mount.

  1. Attach a cap.
    Press a cap down onto the stick mount until you hear a “click”.

  • If the analogue stick doesn't work with your playstyle, try different stick caps or change the stick sensitivity/deadzone setting. 

How to change your Access controller button cap tags

After you assign buttons, use button cap tags on the button caps so you can remember your assignments. You may want to turn off your Access controller while swapping tags to avoid accidentally pressing the buttons during gameplay.

  1. To attach a tag, insert the tag into the hole of the cap and press down firmly.

  1. To detach a tag, pinch the sides of the tag and pull it straight out of the hole of the cap.
