Griffins, also called Gryphons (Greek: gryphos, "lion-eagle") are mythological creatures with the body of a lion but wings and an eagle's head. Like a lion, this creature becomes the "king of wild animals" and as an eagle, it becomes the "king of the air". As such, Griffin is the most powerful depiction of both of these beings and is dubbed the "King of beasts and lord of the air".
