Corrieshalloch Gorge is a stunning National Trust for Scotland site located on the way to Ullapool. A definite stop off point for those travelling to Ullapool!

Between 1730 and 1737, iron was mined in the hills near the Well of Lecht. Later, in 1841, the mine was re-opened by the Duke of Richmond as a Manganese Mine. However following the importation of manganese ore from Russia, the price fell from £8 per ton to an uneconomical £3 per ton, and the mine was closed for a final time in 1846.

Lindesfarne, Holy Island

These picturesque fishing cottages are in an area called Footdee in Aberdeen, pronounced ‘Fittie’ locally. There has been a record of a fishing community in this area since 1398.

Home of the Gordon family for over 400 years, Haddo House still retains a homely feel. The house also contains an impressive collection of period furniture, ceramics and art, including paintings by Sir Thomas Lawrence and James Giles.
