As noted by Thomas Mann in "Reference and Informational Genres" in 'Encyclopedia of Library and Information Sciences' (Third Edition), reference materials, such as encyclopedias and dictionaries, assist in gathering brief information on topics. Local libraries often provide these materials, e.g. 'Encyclopedia of Religion.' In her article titled "Building a Virtual Reference Shelf,' Lauren Wallis noted that such reference materials are often available virtually from local libraries.

CIS encourages a creative exploration of natural and human sciences from the Islamic worldview. … CIS supports activities aimed at enhancing our religious and scientific understanding of nature and the human condition.”

The Institute for Creation Research (ICR) (http://www.icr.org/) claims to be a “leader in scientific research within the context of biblical creation” and seeks to “to impact the lives and ministries of pastors, teachers, students, and families with the wonders of God’s creation.” The institute is located in Dallas, Texas.

The Association of Orthodox Jewish Scientists (AOJS) (http://www.aojs.org/) claims to be the “interface of halacha and science” and “an organization devoted to the orientation of science within the framework of Orthodox Jewish tradition.” The AOJS publishes a newsletter, proceedings, bulletin, directory, and books.

The Science and Religion Forum (http://www.srforum.org/) originated in Durham, England, and “organises an annual conference on topics at the interface of religion and science” and “promotes discussion between scientific understanding and religious thought.”

The European Society for the Study of Science and Theology (ESSSAT) (http://www.esssat.eu/) is a “scholarly, non-confessional organization, based in Europe, which aims to promote the study of relationships between the natural sciences and theological views.”

The Veritas Forums are “events that engage students and faculty in discussions about life’s hardest questions and the modern relevance of Jesus Christ.” The Veritas Forum for “Science & Faith” (http://questions.veritas.org/science-faith/) provides a “space for investigating questions at the intersection of empiricism and spirituality.”

The Zygon Center for Religion and Science (http://zygoncenter.org/) is a “partnership of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and the Center for Advanced Study in Religion and Science." The center is “dedicated to relating religious traditions and scientific knowledge in order to gain insight into the origins, nature, and destiny of humans and their environment, and to realize the common goal of a world in which love, justice, and responsible patterns of living prevail.”

BioLogos (http://biologos.org/) “believe[s] the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God” and “invites the church and the world to see the harmony between science and biblical faith as we present an evolutionary understanding of God’s creation.” The BioLogos Foundation is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
