About Zabbix

Zabbix is a cloud-based and on-premise network monitoring solution designed to help enterprises across various industries such as healthcare, banking, education, or IT track, record and visualize the performance of servers, virtual machines (VMs), databases, applications and websites.

It enables administrators to collect data from multiple devices and perform root cause analysis to identify or forecast problems. Zabbix sends custom notifications to personnel about issues and lets them escalate problems as per user-defined service levels. The solution also allows supervisors to grant role-based permissions to team members and protect data through internal database, LDAP and HTTP basic authentication methods. Engineers can periodically scan network, auto-register new equipment and create items, triggers or graphs for different elements on devices.

Zabbix offers integration with multiple third-party applications including Appdynamics, cPanel, Drupal, Grafana, Jabber, Barracuda, Squadcast and more. It is available for free and support is provided via phone, documentation and online measures.

Zabbix is a perfect place for monitoring solutions. It gives ease to monitor and see the availability of important servers and devices. Deployment and management is absolutely a simple job. All we need to work on graphs to see and analyze the data which is also not a big deal.

Pros:
1. An open-source platform that is worth considering for monitoring device availability. 2. Large number of support communities. 3. Simple and easy setup to start and understand. A single plane navigation for a number of devices together with a good performance.
Cons:
1. Not very much automated which is a necessity now, manual script and work required. 2. There are issues with data collection timing and accuracy, occasionally causing delays between the displayed information and actual events.

Pros:
It makes it easy to track machine health, and you can integrate with software like Pagerduty to warn of incidents. It saves you the trouble of scanning a screen and an action because so much you can automate
Cons:
It is difficult to use and configure, you need to study the tool hard to get a good potential for use of it. The courses are kind of expensive too

Pros:
The single best thing about zabbix is that it's completely free but without lacking anything compared to commercial monitoring tools. It covers pretty much everything from windows servers, esxi servers, HTTP endpoints till our UPS. It produces meaningful graphs and has triggers for each alert. Also it integrates with a lot of tools like Pagerduty to receive alerts. Overall its a complete enterprize level monitoring solution for the infrastructure
Cons:
I would say zabbix has 2 downsides. The first is that you need to configure everything and it can be intimidating if you are not experienced user and the second is the web scenarios for http endpoint monitoring isnt neither great nor straightforward.

Reasons for choosing Zabbix

I have actually splitted the monitoring in 2. I use datadog for website/uptime monitoring and zabbix as an onpremises and internal monitoring. If i chose datadog for internal monitoring then the costs would be prohibiting. So thats why we chose zabbix for the infrastructure part

Zabbix Best Network Monitoring for Enterprise Network

5

previously we were using cacti, but its very mess related to the pooling, and crontab sometime work sometime not, sometime system/server down 10min but cacti still not alert, finally we find the solution to use the zabbix monitoring, we solved all these problem, even the less storage on server, high io in server, server temperature, router temperature zabbix can report very well. i recommend go with zabbix server save your time, you implement one time use forever, until now i use more than 3 years since 2017.

Pros:
zabbix is not the same other platform, its elastic of graph can generate graph very well. zabbix support both protocol agent and snmp protocol that easy to integrated for all product including server. zabbix support the alert notification that is perfect and the best notification is integrated with telegram, so each time there have alert it sent to telegram, system administrator/network engineer just sit and look at the telegram chat only. networking map can draw the map of system and network devices that connect to each other, and it give the accurate information related to traffic bandwidth, cpu process very well.
Cons:
there still small problem is some vendor not provide the snmp template to zabbix, so need to discuss with zabbix community.

Reasons for choosing Zabbix

zabbix is powerful, at the first time i use cacti, i don't know that there have such a great product like this, i know zabbix by searching online and try to read features and install and use it. also zabbix is free for use, as my network there have 60 cisco switch, 4 dell server, 2 SAN storage, and 4 core switch 20Gbps,mikrotik router on the other branch, and there have around 60VM including windows server, ubuntu, debian, redhat we integrated it all into zabbix for monitoring.

Reasons for switching to Zabbix

the pooling and graph of cacti is not dynamic and no notification alert, need to have one pc to monitor all the network traffic, but using zabbix no need to do like this, all notification are sent to telegram chat by telegram bot.

Pros:
Its ease of implementation, the options it offers for the different environments that one may face in companies, its capacity for horizontal clarification, its ease of integration with other tools either as data sources or as a receiver.
Cons:
There are configurations, such as SNMP, which depending on the vendor and the model can be very complex. It does not have the option of high availability or scale-up unless third-party tools are used.

Reasons for switching to Zabbix

Zabbix has a greater reach and offers more possibilities.

I love the extensibility

5

I love it and would deploy Zabbix time and time again. I love being able to have nice visualizations as well as extensibility, plus having "proxy" servers at each location allows for me to ensure that even if a site goes down I still have metrics to reference once it gets sent to the server.

Pros:
I absolutely love the extensibility that comes from Zabbix. Theres an absolute ton of templates that make the "cost of entry" quite low for the tranditional things you may want to monitor (CPU, Memory, Networking, etc) but allows for monitoring things that may be more complex as well.
Cons:
There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to Zabbix. It can be quite daunting and sometimes its difficult to understand what you may need to look for in their documentation.

Pros:
Beats many/most SaaS monitoring tools with zero cost as an open source platform. Has a native agent for many OSs that can be deployed easily. We use Zabbix to monitor our systems in a data center and cloud all with a single dashboard. Can be extended to use Web Scenarios which will performance monitor systems/connectivity, too. Probably the best open source tool for monitoring on the market.
Cons:
You need to host it yourself and setup does take some time to get all systems monitoring and dashboards created. (The tool does have a find feature so it will auto import most systems on your network or VPC so that gives a good starting place).
