"This marks the 101 st Frank Zappa album release and the last record Gail creatively worked on, as well," says Ahmet Zappa. Net genoeg tijd om de RoXy-DVD goed door te laten dringen en een fantastisch vooruitzicht voor de lange wintermaanden.

Heb ik net eindelijk een vinyl versie weten te scoren, inclusief posters e.d., komt dat ding opnieuw uit... ben benieuwd wat er op de 6 cd versie komt en of dat ook de moeite van de ongetwijfeld forse prijs waard is.

De 6-CD versie ligt in de kast. De geluidskwaliteit is vergelijkbaar met de oudere versies, vind ik. Maar daar was eigenlijk al niks mis mee. Ik heb nog een vinylversie uit 1981 en een CD uit 1997, en de geluidskwaliteit is daar al dik in orde. Alles goed 'verstaanbaar' en in balans. Het klinkt gewoon goed.
Maar alle extra's en het prachtige boekwerk maken de box voor mij een waardevolle aankoop.
De muziek? Die was al goed en is dat nog steeds. Het blijft een Zappa-klassieker. Als je in het oeuvre van de man mijlpalen mag plaatsen dat staat er hier een.
Als je niet geïnteresseerd bent in de ontwikkeling van het album heb je aan het regulier dubbelalbum voldoende.
Maar alle extra's en het prachtige boekwerk maken de box voor mij een waardevolle aankoop.
