The way Scala rose to popularity was because so many people were excited about it. This came from the early ones evangelizing it. Scala 3 is even better than any other version of Scala. So why do so many companies complain about not being able to "find" Scala devs? Most likely it is just because they don't want to pay what it takes, and/or to provide the security to make a job change. What language is better for serious very large scale development all the way down to scripts that can do almost anything? In a world of AI generated code - that is endless volumes of code, in order to (re)use some code you need to read it and Scala paired with a crafted DSL for purpose, there can not be a more maintainable way to maintain a project. On any project that matures you begin to imagine "a better way" to do it, this is usually a special DSL. The experts and/or AIs can create this and then the majority of the system can be expressions in it's own language.

Django finally gets a modern REST layer. Nikita Sobolev just released the first public version of django-modern-rest. We see this as one of the most important ecosystem developments around Django in recent years. For years many teams associated Django limitations with DRF rather than Django itself. What we are seeing now is a clear shift in direction. What stands out: • no forced serialization stack. Works with msgspec, pydantic, TypedDict, dataclasses and more • strong typing across the stack without unnecessary complexity • async everywhere without sync_to_async workarounds • schema-first semantics with strict validation guarantees • reusable controllers and cleaner system boundaries • performance approaching FastAPI while staying inside Django The roadmap makes it even more interesting: • potential Rust/Cython/mypyc acceleration paths • WebSocket support without django-channels • broader streaming formats beyond SSE • tooling for migrations from DRF and django-ninja The deeper impact is architectural. This direction reinforces several trends we consistently see across Python systems: clearer ownership of data boundaries less framework-driven logic stronger type-driven design more predictable scaling behaviour For teams building or scaling Django systems, this release deserves serious attention. Curious how teams plan to adopt it in production environments. We work with engineering teams reviewing Python architecture decisions early before they become scaling problems.
