The IT industry in Gilgit-Baltistan is in crisis. We’ve faced years of electricity issues in winter—but now even summers bring long hours of load shedding. And as if that wasn’t enough, internet disruptions are making it nearly impossible for companies and freelancers to work. Most of us in GB’s IT sector rely entirely on stable internet and power to serve clients around the world. These repeated outages are causing major financial losses and damaging our reputation in the global market. We urgently call on Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA) , Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan, and Special Communications Organization - SCO Official to step in and ensure priority services for IT companies and freelancers in GB. Autonomous vehicle learning to dodge traffic, performing stochastic adversarial negotiation! On 27th August we had representatives from the Suzuki Motor Corporation's autonomous department, Genki Maeda (Department Manager, AD Platform Development), Karachi Nobunari (Department General Manager, Advance Technology Development Department) and Ronit Kumar (Suzuki Innovation Center) visit us to test our #autonomousdriving technology. We took the definition of adversarial negotiation to a different level during this demo. We asked our team members to ride two wheeler and to cut the path of our autonomous vehicle at random / at will, in a live demo, creating an adversarial scenario, where it is the sole responsibility of our autonomous vehicle to dodge obstacles and prevent accidents. Over the years, we have building autonomous driving technology to enable negotiation of adversarial-complex-stochastic traffic dynamics. This demo is only a short trailer of what is going to come next from Swaayatt Robots (स्वायत्त रोबोट्स). We made the vehicle first negotiate randomly placed static vehicles, bikes and cones on the road. Then in the next section of the road, we asked our team members to cut the path of autonomous vehicle at random, and let it take care of obstacles avoidance and negotiation, balancing aggressiveness and passivity. These algorithmic frameworks are being scaled up to achieve Level-4 and Level-5 autonomous driving, in the most complex of traffic situations imaginable in the world for #autonomousvehicles, i.e., Indian traffic on Indian roads, to conquer this space globally. The speed of the vehicle was kept low in this demo, keeping in mind the safety of the guests. The core motion planning and decision making algorithm in the demo utilized one #reinforcementlearning agent. There is going to be another demo on similar lines next week, on an extended stretch of a road. #deeplearning

“We’re the best in the world when it comes to computer vision and operational AI—observing what’s happening, generating highly reliable, high-precision predictions, and enabling our customers to act on them.” I feel like I got to learn so much about this AI wave early on from Shoaib Makani. Motive was AI-native before that was even a buzzword. In 2017 (at only $1M in ARR), we acquired a small, failed startup working on consumer photo sharing and stitching, led by a founding team of PhDs in computer vision. Working quietly in stealth within Motive (the KeepTruckin — it was a mistake to name a company after a Grateful Dead song), they built a dataset of images from our sensors and forward-facing cameras, then trained our own AI models. You have to rethink your Customer Success motion when selling an AI-native product. Customer-specific training data matters, and a forward-deployed approach to accelerate onboarding is critical. At Motive, our CS motion often felt so different from the traditional SaaS playbooks that I sometimes questioned if we were doing it right. In hindsight, we were operating well ahead of our time. Through it all—and probably why I loved building at Motive so much—is that the founding team truly cares about its customers. That’s also why we’ve continued to succeed. There were lean years, failed bets, and no shortage of incredible challenges, but supporting customers and the teams that serve them was never in question. We always over-invested in support and CS.
