What a phenomenal RDC 2025!🔥 This year’s Roblox Developers Conference (held Sept 5–6 in San Jose) was packed with major announcements, and I couldn’t be more excited by the direction the platform is heading: • Roblox Moments: A built-in short-form video feed for capturing highlights and instantly sharing them across the platform, think a TikTok-style discovery tool tailor-made for Roblox. • Creator earnings boost: DevEx rates increased by 8.5%, putting more cash back into creators’ pockets. • Huge growth metrics: Over $1 billion paid out to creators in the past year, with daily active users climbing toward 112 million. • Emerging tech & safety upgrades: From acoustic simulation and hydrodynamic enhancements to emissive mapping, CSG on meshes, and server authority for anti-cheat measures • Infrastructure & community support: A new data center in São Paulo is now live, improving latency for Brazilian users, and the platform is reinforcing its commitment to safety with over 100 updates and better age-based moderation. This year, Lootbloc turned up with some unforgettable moments: • Partner Dinner: We hosted a special dinner for our 60+ partners, an opportunity to connect, eat great food, and relax after a long RDC weekend. • Claw Machine: We partnered with the Roblox Commerce team to have our Lootbloc-branded claw machine featured at their booth, where attendees could win merch • Luau Plushie Launch: We unveiled an exclusive Luau whale plushie with Roblox, themed after the Luau logo that attendees could earn by completing a scavenger hunt at the Luau booth • Co-hosting Quataun party Friday night at RDC where we gave away thousands of plushies, shirts, hats and more to fellow developers. Lootbloc is only continuing to grow by bringing on new partners this year like Piggy, Pls Donate, Murderers vs. Sheriff Duels, Twin Atlas and more! Bottom line: RDC 2025 wasn’t just about big tech announcements, it was a celebration of community and all of the successes this past year. I’m so excited by the possibilities ahead, and inspired by how platforms like Roblox and partners like Lootbloc continue to grow together. Here’s to next year, bigger, bolder, and even more connected.

Personally, I think this is a smart move strategically. The live entertainment industry is evolving toward experience engineering, not just concerts. When one giant company can do everything, two things tend to happen: 1. Creative diversity shrinks Smaller design houses and niche technical companies can get squeezed out. 2. Power concentrates Promoters may prefer a single vendor that “handles it all,” which reduces competition across the ecosystem. I believe the industry is entering a phase where three or four giant experience companies could dominate global touring. TAIT is clearly positioning itself to become one of them. But historically, the magic of live entertainment has come from a wild mix of independent designers, fabricators, engineers, and technicians building things together. Some of the most groundbreaking shows came from that creative chaos. If the industry becomes too consolidated, we risk losing some of that experimentation and diversity of ideas. Curious to hear from others who have been inside the touring machine. What’s your instinct? Is this the natural evolution of the business… or the beginning of a more centralized industry?

🔮 "What if Portals Were Real-Time Windows to Another World?" How NetEase Engineered the Impossible in Marvel Rivals Doctor Strange's portals in Marvel Rivals are not just visually stunning — they are a work of real-time rendering art. Tieyi Zhang, a Senior Graphics Engineer at NetEase, spoke at GDC 2025 of how they overcame tremendous frame-rate losses brought on by Unreal Engine's integrated Scene Capture 2D. The mission? Design seamless, real-time portals that visualise precisely where you're going to end up, without killing performance in gameplay. 🎮 The unexpected answer? Taking a lead from It Takes Two, the group employed lag-free split-screen rendering methods, retooling local co-op logic to mimic the view of the portal cost-effectively. Throw in frame-skipping optimisations within the portal, and you have one of the most popular (and now tested-in-real-wars) mechanics in the game. 💡 It's a shining illustration of how problem-solving skill combined with mastery of the engine equals gameplay magic.
