Η μεγαλύτερη απειλή για τις επιχειρήσεις σήμερα δεν είναι η ΤΝ αλλά η εμμονή μας να πιστεύουμε ότι η ΤΝ είναι η απάντηση σε όλα. Μαζί με το αντηλιακό για το σ/κ πάρτε μαζί σας και μια σκέψη που ξεκλειδώνει πολύ περισσότερα πράγματα από την ΤΝ…. Αν δεν έκανα αυτό που κάνω θα το ξεκινούσα σήμερα; Αν δεν έφτιαχνα αυτό που φτιάχνω θα το έφτιαχνα σήμερα; Από όσα χτεσινά πράγματα θα κρατήσω για αύριο πως πρέπει να τα κάνω πλέον; Μπορώ να συνεχίσω να κάνω τα ίδια πράγματα με τον ίδιο τρόπο; Κάνουμε τα σωστά πράγματα; Ή απλώς κάνουμε πιο γρήγορα αυτά που κάποτε ήταν σωστά; Όσο μας απορροφάει μονομερώς η ΤΝ τόσο κινδυνεύουμε να χάσουμε τις υπόλοιπες αλλαγές στο επιχειρηματικό περιβάλλον. Αν επικεντρωθούμε αποκλειστικά στο πώς θα χρησιμοποιήσουμε την ΤΝ θα παραβλέψουμε το πιο κρίσιμο ερώτημα: Τι πρέπει να σταματήσουμε να κάνουμε; Επιχειρήσεις και επαγγελματίες καλούνται να εγκαταλείψουν όχι μόνο παρωχημένες τεχνολογίες αλλά και ξεπερασμένες παραδοχές για τον πελάτη, την αξία του, τις πεποιθήσεις του, τον τρόπο που αγοράζει, τον τρόπο που συνδέεται, τις προσδοκίες του για την ζωή και την ευημερία. Οι καριέρες έχουν ΗΔΗ αλλάξει πολύ πριν ξεκινήσει η συζήτηση περί ΤΝ και θα συνεχίζουν να αλλάζουν με τρόπους και αιτίες πολύ πέραν της τεχνολογίας. Είναι αυτό στο ραντάρ σας; Ξεκινήστε αυτό τον διάλογο… Πόσο από το χτες πρέπει να σταματήσω; Πόσο από το χτες πρέπει να κάνω αλλιώς; Πως αλλάζει ο κόσμος; Η ΤΝ μπορεί να μεταμορφώσει τον τρόπο που εργαζόμαστε, αλλά είναι ένας μόνο καλεσμένος, όχι όλο το πάρτυ! Sometime in the last month, a colleague sent you something that looked finished and fell apart the second you leaned on it. Their shortcut became your problem. There's a name for it now: workslop. A Stanford and BetterUp team coined it last fall, for AI output that looks like work but doesn't do any. The deck that looks sharp and makes no case. The pull request that compiles and fixes nothing. Whoever opens it next pays for it. In the team's survey of 1,150 employees, 40% got handed workslop last month, each instance running about an hour and 56 minutes to untangle. Price that time and it lands at roughly $186 a month per worker on the receiving end, over nine million dollars a year in a 10,000-person company, all of it rework nobody logged. One finance worker described the call he had to make on the spot: rewrite it himself, send it back, or "just call it good enough." Notice what happened in those two hours. The thinking didn't get done faster. It moved. For years the bargain with machines was clean: they take the mechanical work, you keep the judgment. Workslop breaks it. The machine fakes the judgment, and the real work lands on a colleague who never agreed to do it. As the researchers put it, what the sender treats as a loophole becomes a hole the receiver has to dig out of. There's already a name for that hole: Verification Debt, approving and forwarding what you never actually read. AI didn't invent it. It just made it effortless. The money is the cheap part. After getting workslopped, people rate the sender differently: → 42% trust them less → 37% think they're less intelligent → 32% don't want to work with them again The sender never sees that meter move. They shipped something that looked finished and got marked down by everyone who had to fix it. I'm not saying don't use AI. But you have to stay the person accountable for what it hands you. Before the deck or the pull request leaves your hands, one question settles it: would you put your name on this with the AI's name nowhere near it? If not, you haven't finished the work. You've moved it onto someone who trusts you a little less every time.

Over the last two weeks, both the U.S. Government and Anthropic took significant actions that demonstrated their power to control access to AI by restricting what others can do with frontier models. This has been one of those moments that, once seen, will be hard to unsee, and it is significantly accelerating many businesses’ and nation states’ efforts to ensure reliable access to AI that no one else can terminate. Anthropic first released Claude Fable 5, a version of its Mythos model with additional guardrails, including some restrictions that seem justified on safety grounds (such as limitations on applying it to hacking, bioweapons, and so forth). However, it also restricted developers’ ability to use it to build competing LLM technology. This move was concerning, given that the whole AI community, including Anthropic, has benefitted tremendously from open research — indeed, the AI revolution was kicked off by my former team (Google Brain) freely publishing the Transformers paper! Imagine if Microsoft’s terms of use barred anyone from using their tools to build competitive software, or if Google barred using it to search for information to work on competing search engines. Anthropic’s argument that it was unsafe for others to be able to make advances in AI also rang hollow. Initially, Anthropic silently degraded Fable 5’s performance for users detected to be working on LLM research through invisible interventions that weakened the model’s outputs without notifying the user. After significant backlash, it walked back this decision and decided to be transparent when it did this, but it still refuses to use its latest capabilities to help AI researchers. This move represents a raw demonstration of power by Anthropic. It has used “safety” arguments to hinder potential competitors. Platforms succeed when they are viewed as stable, reliable partners that one can build on. The sudden rule changes by Anthropic (including a mandatory 30 day data retention policy for Fable usage) have made developers wonder about the stability of building on any one proprietary LLM provider, not just Anthropic. The U.S. Government then shortly followed with an even greater demonstration of power. It used the Commerce Department’s authority to regulate technologies that may be national security threats to restrict exports of Mythos and Fable, requiring a license for use by any foreign national, whether inside or outside of the U.S. This led Anthropic to disable access to Fable to all users worldwide. Sam Altman pointed out, referring to Anthropic, “It is clearly incredible marketing to say, ‘We have built a bomb, we are about to drop it on your head. We will sell you a bomb shelter for $100 million.’” But when one uses this type of fear-based marketing, it increases the odds that the U.S. Government will agree with you and slap export controls on the bomb you say you have built.
