Short-form video was never meant to belong to only one group of people. At the very beginning, social media existed so that more people could share what they know, who they are, how they see the world, and what their everyday life looks like. It wasn’t designed only for younger creators, professional influencers, or people who could spend hours editing in front of a screen. It was meant to make expression easier, not harder. Over time, that promise has quietly shifted. Creation now often assumes speed, polish, and constant output. Many tools require long screen time, fine motor control, and technical familiarity. As a result, entire groups of people are unintentionally pushed out of the conversation, not because they lack ideas or perspectives, but because the tools aren’t built for them. We don’t think short-form video should work this way. We want to hear from people of different ages, experiences, and physical realities. We want social media to reflect more of real life, not just those who can optimize for algorithms the fastest. Francesca’s story is a reminder of why this matters.
