https://lnkd.in/g-nNcGxt “What we’re trying to build is the tomorrow for future generations. The quality of life we enjoy, and that brings so many people to Utah, we want to preserve for those who come after us.” — Todd Beutler, General Manager/CEO of Connect On June 17, transit professionals from across Utah came together at the State Capitol to celebrate the growth of public transportation and its impact on our communities. We heard from Executive Director Jay Fox, Connect CEO Todd Beutler, and Representative Jon Hawkins, who shared their perspectives on how transit supports economic growth, strengthens communities, and helps create a brighter future for Utahns. Thank you to everyone working to advance transportation solutions that connect people, expand opportunities, and improve quality of life across our state.

When Salt Lake City's transit leaders visited the Milan-Cortina Winter Games to study their transportation playbook, Italian officials had an unusual message... ....slow down. You're already ahead. This week on Modeshift, host Andrei Greenawalt sits down with Nichol Bourdeaux, Chief Planning and Engagement Officer for the Utah Transit Authority, on how a city that's grown from 900,000 to 1.3 million people since 2002 is quietly building one of the most ambitious transit networks in the American West — with the 2034 Winter Olympics as its deadline. A huge shoutout to the incredible UTA employees who worked diligently to bring the APTA International Bus Roadeo to life. From setup to execution, it took an enormous team effort and countless dedicated volunteers to make the event a success. Among the many amazing UTA employees, three stood out for helping lead the charge from start to finish and earned the title of this year’s “Roadeo Royalty,” notably named by Executive Director Jay Fox: Marina Riddle as Roadeo Queen Andrew Lucia as Roadeo Wrangler Riley Williams Roadeo Wrench
What a week to remember! Last week, UTA had the honor of hosting the APTA International Bus Roadeo and Mobility Conference, welcoming transit professionals from across North America right here in Utah. After more than a year of strategizing, watching it all come to life was something special. I'm so proud of the team that planned for months and pushed through long days and late nights to make this a success. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to help lead this alongside so many talented people. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and to all who traveled to join us. What an experience and such a fun atmosphere to be part of. Until next time!

Meet Seve, a 13-year-old UTA fan with a big passion for trains. We invited Seve to our Midvale Rail Service Center to get firsthand experience with real TRAX trains. The tour gave Seve the opportunity to have his questions answered by UTA's rail experts and further his knowledge and passion for trains. Thanks for coming, Seve! We hope it was a day you won't soon forget.

“We Move You.” Simple. Direct. True. Jay Fox opened the 2026 Mobility Conference with a message that perfectly captured why this industry matters. Transit is not just about moving people from Point A to Point B — it’s about moving lives forward. Behind every trip is a village of people and partnerships working together every day to serve our communities. Public transportation creates opportunity, strengthens communities, and powers economies. And as Jay said, when one of us gets better, all of us get better. A meaningful reminder of the impact transit has on the people and communities we serve. https://lnkd.in/gHsxrVWW
