Royal Hackaway V8! 🚀
Earlier this month, I had the incredible privilege of co-organising and running Royal Hackaway v8 alongside an amazing team at RHUL CompSoc.
On 8th-9th February, we brought together over 140 talented hackers for an unforgettable 2-day event filled with innovation, collaboration, and late-night coding sessions. ☕
This is the LARGEST exclusively STUDENT-RUN yearly event at Royal Holloway, University of London and with a prize pool of over £1000, the competition was fierce! The final projects were truly impressive and for this reason, judging them all was a difficult task. Some of my personal favorites included a detective game built using a real reverse-engineered rotary telephone and an interactive projection game that used real-world objects to create levels. 🔥

Throughout organising and running this event, we gained a lot of invaluable skills, from communicating and negotiating with sponsors, to event coordination, catering, public speaking, and more.
Finally, a huge thank you to our participants, sponsors, and 25 amazing volunteers—this event wouldn’t have been possible without your support!!
We’re especially grateful to organisations like Hackathons UK and Major League Hacking, societies such as Royal Holloway Cybersecurity Society and MakersSoc, as well as our generous sponsors, including the RHUL Computer Science Department, Verdn (YC, B Corp), and StoryFutures - we couldn’t have done it without you! 💙
