The U.S. Navy has approved Raytheon’s StormBreaker smart weapon for operational use on the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. StormBreaker is the only operational smart weapon capable of engaging moving and stationary targets in fair and adverse weather, on land or at sea. Its compact size allows a single aircraft to engage more surface targets, and its ability to strike mobile targets helps reduce the time aircrew spend in harm’s way. This approval marks another milestone following StormBreaker’s successful performance on the Super Hornet since first being carried by the aircraft in 2023. Learn more: https://rtxcorp.co/4s4MnAb

📰#NEWS: Raytheon has been awarded a contract by the Air Force Research Laboratory to help establish U.S.-based production of thin film lithium niobate (TFLN) wafers, a key material for high-speed, secure communications and advanced sensing systems. Under the contract, Raytheon’s Advanced Technology team will leverage its expertise in ion slicing to assist US-based G&H (Cleveland) during the manufacturing process, with production transitioning to G&H in early 2026. “Global access to TFLN has become increasingly constrained, with supply consolidation leaving U.S. companies vulnerable to international disruptions.” - Colin Whelan, president of Advanced Technology at Raytheon Learn how this effort will strengthen domestic supply chain for critical defense and commercial technologies ➡️https://rtxcorp.co/4rX7S5P

📰#NEWS: Raytheon takes a major step forward in counter-unmanned aircraft systems with a successful US Army demonstration of the Coyote Block 3NK, which defeated multiple drone swarms with a non-kinetic effect. The demo showcased the system’s launch, intercept, recovery, and redeployment capabilities. Recent enhancements to Coyote Block 3NK have reduced recovery-to-return-to-flight timelines by 50 percent and strengthened the system’s non-kinetic payload. This reflects the sustained investment by the United States Department of War and Raytheon in Coyote Block 3NK as well as kinetic capabilities like Coyote Block 2, which can be fired from the same launcher. “We continue to invest in Coyote’s combat-proven capabilities, ensuring that allies around the globe gain an affordable operational advantage over sophisticated and evolving drone threats.” -Tom Laliberty, president of Land & Air Defense Systems at Raytheon Details: https://rtxcorp.co/4tvfeiv

Coexistence, not compromise, will define the future of #spectrum—and that’s exactly what the Advanced Spectrum Coexistence Demonstration is set to deliver. #RTXBBN is proud to be part of this effort, led by the United States Department of War and the National Spectrum Consortium, which aims to achieve seamless and secure operations of defense radars and commercial #5G networks on shared frequencies. Under this initiative, the team is developing a secure, self-managing platform to optimize spectrum sharing. If successful, it could expand 5G capacity, preserve radar performance, and strengthen operational reliability and national security. Congratulations to BBNers Chris Vander Valk, Colin Funai, Brian Basnight, Tabitha Maxwell, and Bishal Thapa, as well as Raytheon Advanced Technology (https://lnkd.in/etN-fMiJ ), Ericsson Federal Technologies Group, Federated Wireless, Signal Processing Technologies, Purdue University, and NOVOWI LLC. 📰 ANNOUNCEMENT: Raytheon has successfully completed builder’s trials for the SPY-6(V)3 radar aboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CVN 79). Once delivered, the ship will be the first aircraft carrier delivered to the US Navy since 2017. This milestone marks the first-ever installation of SPY-6(V)3 for the U.S. Navy, replacing the legacy Dual Band Radar on newly constructed Ford-class aircraft carriers. SPY-6(V)3 delivers advanced capabilities to support both anti-air warfare and air traffic control missions for this ship class.
