Lots of talk in our industry around this headline today…. 𝟏) 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭): OpenAI is paying experts to create data to improve their AI models. This is not a new product announcement for a banker-specific chatbot. OpenAI/Anthropic/Gemini/xAI are all in the business of collecting vast amounts of knowledge work data (across finance, legal, healthcare, etc) to make their models smarter. This is what they’ve been doing for the past 5 years and it’s what they’ll continue to do for the next 5. 𝟐) 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦: This means OAI cares about making sure their base models understand finance. Better AI models mean better application layer products. Rogo and other startups are built on top of OpenAI’s models. That means when they improve their AI, the floor rises for what we can do. The more OAI invests here, the more the whole ecosystem gains. Every bank, hedge fund, and investor will be able to build all sorts of tools on top of OpenAI’s API & every startup that cares about solving finance pain points gets a leg up. 𝟑) 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡: Large language models are only as good as the context, tools, and data they have access to… Imagine if a human banking analyst couldn’t log into FactSet, or use PowerPoint or Pitchbook, or reference any internal XLSX/PPT precedents… they probably wouldn’t be very good. That’s why at Rogo, we connect AI to the workflows, data sources, internal systems, and outputs that bankers actually need. That means every time LLMs get smarter, we can take advantage of that ASAP to deliver more value, more outputs, and more results to our clients. We're customer obsessed at Rogo. We eat, sleep and breathe AI for finance and finance only. There’s so much work to do to harness the raw intelligence of LLMs and make sure they deliver on the grandiose promise of changing finance (and make sure no more jnr bankers have to stay up until 4am moving around logos in software tools made in the 80s :)).
