  • Africa's higher education story is one of growth, ambition and opportunity. We're live from QS Africa Forum in Addis Ababa, where university leaders, policymakers and industry partners are exploring how the continent can strengthen higher education systems, develop future-ready talent and build the partnerships needed to drive sustainable economic growth. As Dr Ashwin Fernandes, Vice President, Strategic and International Engagement at QS, noted during his welcome address: "Rather than describing Africa's demographic growth as a 'youth bulge', we should recognise it for what it is: one of the world's most powerful talent pipelines." This perspective set the tone for discussions on internationalisation, AI, research collaboration, graduate employability, institutional strategy and the role of higher education in unlocking Africa's long-term potential. In his opening presentation, Dr Sergey Paramonov, PhD, Regional Partnerships Manager at QS, shared a compelling snapshot of Africa's momentum: 📈 GDP growth is forecast to outpace China over the next five years, reinforcing Africa's growing economic potential. 🎓 The number of African universities in the QS World University Rankings has risen from 32 to 48 in just five years. 💼 African universities produce graduates with some of the world's strongest employment outcomes, yet this success is not always reflected in employer reputation. 🌍 As student mobility continues to grow, how can Africa retain talent while becoming an even more attractive destination for international students? 💭 What do you think will have the greatest impact on the future of higher education in Africa? #QSAfricaForum #HigherEducation #Africa #UniversityLeadership #InternationalEducation #FutureSkills United Arab Emirates University

  • The United States ranks first globally in the QS World Future Skills Index 2027. But even the world's most prepared economy faces challenges in preparing learners for a rapidly evolving labour market. US employers report shortfalls in human cognitive skills and human-centered leadership — capabilities that will become more valuable as AI reshapes work. Our latest analysis explores what the US is getting right, where gaps remain, and what other countries can learn from its approach to future skills. https://lnkd.in/efrj8aSc What do you think is the biggest challenge universities face in preparing graduates for the future of work? #QSInsights #FutureOfWork #Skills #AI

  • Your university doesn't have an AI innovation problem. You have a visibility problem. When institutions lack a shared view of AI capability, it becomes harder to understand existing strengths, identify opportunities and make confident decisions about where to invest next. That's exactly the issue the QS AI Capability Framework addresses. As QS Innovation Officer Maria Spies explains, establishing a common language and a clear baseline is a critical first step for any university looking to advance its AI strategy. What's the biggest challenge your institution faces when it comes to AI adoption and governance? #HigherEducation #ArtificialIntelligence #QSInsights

  • India is one of the world's fastest-rising higher education systems. In the QS World University Rankings 2027, India recorded the second-highest improvement rate of any country with more than 50 ranked universities, behind only China. According to Dr Ashwin Fernandes, Vice President, Strategic and International Engagement at QS, India's momentum is being driven by stronger research impact, employer reputation and graduate employability. The next challenge? Internationalisation. Sustaining this growth will require attracting more international students and faculty while strengthening global academic recognition. Discover what's driving India's rise and what comes next in the QS Insights Magazine article, India's New Trajectory. 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eFXPFx2u #QSWUR #HigherEducation #India #UniversityRankings #QSInsights

  • Students aren't asking universities to ban Generative AI. They're asking for help using it responsibly. The new QS report Generative AI in Higher Education: Academic and Student Perspectives revealed that more than 60% of students use Generative AI every week, and an overwhelming majority want universities to integrate it into teaching and learning. What they're looking for isn't stricter restrictions, but clearer guidance, stronger AI literacy and practical skills they can take into the workplace. For institutions, the challenge is no longer whether AI belongs in higher education. It's how to embed it in ways that strengthen learning, uphold academic integrity and prepare graduates for an AI-enabled future. Our latest article explores what students really think about Generative AI and what their expectations mean for universities.
