Yesterday we wrapped up the CPython Core Dev Sprint 2025 at Arm in Cambridge, the biggest sprint ever organised for Python, and by many accounts, the best. 🎉 For a week, about 50 Python Core Developers and guests worked side by side on the future of Python. The sprint combined intense coding and design discussions with moments of community and fun, from punting on the river to a special dinner at Jesus College, giving everyone a proper Cambridge experience. Some of the highlights: ✅ A warm opening by Mark Hambleton on Monday ✅ Three presentations from Arm on architecture, ISA, and compilers ✅ A Q&A with the Python Steering Council ✅ An AMA with the a few core developers for the internal Python Guild at Arm ✅ The release of Python 3.14rc2 during the sprint ✅ A joint Arm-PSF message recorded (to be published later this year) The feedback from participants was extremely positive, with many saying it was the most valuable sprint they’ve ever attended. For us at Arm, it was also a chance to show our ongoing commitment to the Python ecosystem, from supporting infrastructure to investing in long-term performance improvements. Personally, this has been a rewarding (and yes, sometimes very stressful!) experience, but the outcome makes me incredibly proud. A huge thank you to everyone involved in the organisation and to all who joined us in Cambridge. 💙🐍 📸 Sharing some photos from the week, sprint sessions, social events, and the AMA.
